All Star Game Saturday Night Live-Blog

We'll be getting things going at 8pm with The Amazing Race.....Bavetta v. Barkley (Great breakdown here from 3 Man Lift). Who does everyone have tonight in the competitions? I'm going with Chris Paul in the Skills, Gerald Green in the Dunk, San Antonio in the "whatever they call it" competition, and a sleeper of Mike Miller in the 3pt Contest.

I'm watching David Stern's press conference on NBA TV right now, and he is reeling from all of the Hardaway/Gambling questions. See you in a few!

8pm- And we're live! Just learned that the Bavetta-Barkley Race is second on the card. The Haier Shooting Stars Comp is up first.

Steve Kerr, Reggie Miller, and Kevin Harlan are on the call. Not a bad team.....minus Reggie.

New Dunk Contest Rule.....Dunkers have 2 minutes to complete a dunk. When time runs out they have only 2 more chances. Steve Kerr correctly calls this the "Nate Robinson Rule"

(Just so you can identify with me.....I'm here with the Awful GF, The Roommate, The Ex-Roomate, And the Ex-Roomate's GF...let's just call her "Hair". We've got the wine and cheese...er, Miller Lite and Salt and Vinegar Chips ready. Let's have some fun tonight all!)

Hahaha......great clip show/preview of the race. I'm stoked.

Shaq, Cheryl Miller, and Reggie Miller are with Charles
Nash, Garnett, and Kerr on Bavetta

Barkley: Age 43, Height 6'5", Weight ???

Bavetta: Age 67, Height 5'10", Weight 158lbs

Just got word that the players are stuck in traffic, so we'll probably be delayed quite a bit.

Kobe Bryant introduces us to NBA ASG Saturday Night and kicks it over to a fake Rat Pack......greaaat, this is starting off grand. Nothing says basketball like imitating a bunch of old singers.

IT'S OFFICIAL!!!! Irvin Fired From ESPN! What a great night.

Just getting into introductions now.....

Scottie Pippen is trying out his comeback starting with the Heier Shooting Stars Competition. Team Chicago is up first.....Pippen, Gordon, and Dupree. Dupree hits the half-court shot and the Bulls clock in at 48.8 secs.

LA is up now......Smush Parker, Michael Cooper, and I missed the WNBAer. Cooper goes o-13 before he hits the three.....Parker misses another 6 shots....and they don't even finish. They get a second chance.....and what's the point really? This thing is ending at 1am.

Kevin Harlan alerts us to the fact that Instant Replay is available........that's good.

Smush hits a shot right at the two-minute mark and Kevin Harlan is trying to get them to have another replay in a dumb competition. WHO CARES?!?!?!?!?!

Detroit's team of Lambier, Billups, and Swin Cash are on the court and finish at the official time is 1 minute something because the clock keeps messing up. Lambier is arguing with the officials as usually and Reggie Miller tells us to "not be surprised by these WNBA players" for the 100th time.

ANOTHER REVIEW!?!?!?! Are you kidding me?

Spurs' Wecker, Ice Man, and Parker are up. George Gervin is stinking up the place, and the finals are Detroit and Chicago in the finals.....yippee!

OH NO!!! There's controversy in the Finals! Ben Gordon took a shot before he was supposed to and apparently this is a big deal. Detroit WIns. Onto the Skills in a new post.

First time I've heard of any sporting event delayed due to traffic.

Dallas news is saying Irvin is out. Nooooo! I hope Fox picks him up. That would be good times.

Didn't it look like Dwyane can't stand Kobe?

It's hard to believe Memphis won at Gonzaga with the Tigers missing all those free throws. Remind me not to take Memphis in any NCAA tourney pools.

Funny that the *players* were late for the All-Star festivities because of traffic. It must be chaos behind the scenes for TNT having to deal with that.

Ugh. Maria Shriver = Skeletor.

This is just sad for the L.A. team.

This "skills competition" is a total cluster.

Yeesh. I never realized this competition was this boring.

Is it just me or is it depressing to see Cooper, Laimbeer, and Gervin with their beer guts and flabby arms in the uniforms? At least Pippen has kept it relatively together.

Nice politically correct chest bump between Pippen and Dupree.

Best subtle gambling reference so far: "There's some money involved with this."
