ESPN College Football Glitch, What The Heck Is Going On Here?

Friday, October 05, 2007

Reader AS who writes And Here Come The Pretzels sent this clip in from the Kentucky-South Carolina game last night of a brief glitch at the start of the 4th quarter. I, like AS, have no idea as to what's going on here. Did the mics cut out, or is there a producer telling Craig James what to say?

What say you?

Hey AA, did I miss the caption contest winner?

And, on a completely unrelated note, ESPN really isn't going to make a big deal out of this "LeBron's wearing a Yankees cap" bullshit non-story, right?

As much as I'm sure ESPN tells their broadcasters what to say, I think this is just an example of a brief technical glitch. Sorta like how every time Mark May opens his mouth.

They cut to the telephone backup (or whatever the audio backup is) briefly, thus the need to synch up when they got the audio feed back. At least ESPN actually had the announcers there at the stadium (unlike the NBA summer ball action with a crew calling the Las Vegas game from a studio in Bristol.)

All I can say is that I'm actuall pretty glad TBS got the playoffs this year, because the remote on this TV broke. Normally this a problem with MNF or a baseball game on ESPN ends and Stuart Scott appears and starts yelling at me.

Um, and the main point of my last post was actually to "of course they will." Sorry, I forgot you all didn't have a way of reading my thoughts.
