And The Halftime Show You'll Be Skipping This Year Is!?!?

Monday, December 03, 2007

That's right folks, it's Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers! The 57 year old Petty will rock your face off this February in a timely halftime concert during the Super Bowl this year. I guess Prince's performance last year made the selection committee revert back to the practice of hiring the oldest performers possible following the Janet Jackson incident.

Petty joins The Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney in that regard, and there is no truth to the rumor that Cirque du Soleil will be showing up with those weird bouncy people again this year.

Prince was 48 last year. So yeah, they really went young last year.

Just curious what music you listen to? Petty is still a ripping performer. His tour with Pearl Jam last year was excellent. You probably don't like PJ though either.

I guess rock & roll isn't for everyone. Maybe they'll get Hannah Montana next year?

It was just a joke Anon geesh. I like Petty's older stuff and had no idea he was on tour with PJ. He'll be good I'm sure. Anything is better than that Aerosmith-Britney-Nelly combo they had a few years back.

U2 was the worst halftime show ever. Bono is the biggest turd ever (thanks South Park).

So does this mean in 2030, Wilco, Arcade Fire, or Dave Matthews might play the Super Bowl halftime show? Pearl Jam is a lock for 2010s.

Great. The Timberflake-Jacko wardrobe malfunction punishes us for yet another year. That being said, I don't think any SB performer would ever draw rave reviews. It's like we're programmed to detest it!

This just in... The remaining members of the Lawrence Welk Orchestra (all of two of them) to perform at Super Bowl XLIII!!! What's this, the Lennon sisters to do an exotic dance while singing?! Oh, heavens, no, that means Super Bowl XLIV will feature an explanation of quantum physics for our entertainment pleasure!

There's still time to get Up With People back together.

this sucks. you'd think they would've asked the police or van halen to play. the police have this year's best tour and it would be great to see van halen play on national tv.

have any of you ever been to a tom petty show? Tom Petty is one of the all time greatest rock and rollers and i'd like you to compare any of today's artists to him and his band. No comparison. No heart no soul no passion.
Go Petty and Go Pats! 16-0!!
