Kirk Herbstreit Stands Behind His Miles Source

Sunday, December 02, 2007

I think for about a brief second I didn't believe Herbstreit's report yesterday, and that wasn't really the point of the post in the first place. Whether he was right or wrong it was still sketchy in how ESPN brought the information to us.

Anyway, Kirk is sticking by his source today....

I'm inclined to believe Kirk, but even moreso after Les Miles showed up on Sports Center to try and gain votes for his team. It's pretty funny to me that the entity he was so mad at earlier in the day was the same place that the coach had to make his plea.

I'm pretty sure Miles knew what he was doing all day long, and using that report as motivation worked pretty well.

I agree that the sports world is beyond screwed up when an erroneous report by ESPN nearly ruins LSU's season, and then a few hours later, the victim had to come to ESPN on his hands and knees and beg for votes.

Further proof that ESPN is too powerful and must be stopped.

By the way, I am confident that Miles's agent leaked the story to Herbie. Or maybe it was just coincidental that LSU got the deal done in less than two hours after the announcement.

I don't think it was part of a conspiracy to intentionally sabotage LSU's season, btw. But I do think that ESPN would have shown more respect to a Michigan coach who may have been rumored to be leaving for another school.

The LSU hotel was like a MORGUE after Herbstreit on GameDay.
Miles had to do something to save his team.
Don't worry! He's still going to Michigan.
Once LSU misses the title game, he'll claim the report had ruined everything for him to stay and he'll bolt. NO DOUBT about it.

They're not missing the title game. So, what now? Michigan isn't waiting until the 3rd week of January to hire a coach.

Anon

Miles is not a victim. He used it to rally his team. He did not have to call in, he knew his team was in the mnc. Miles would have cost his team, with players injured and questionable call. Miles said he would call any media to pimp his team.

AA

How did you want them to present it. They could have snuck it into the converstation.

The best place for michigan info is mgoblog. More than 95% of the comments back most of what herbie said. Carr was more than likely his source. Carr hates miles.

Miles could have ended this weeks ago. When miles said he can talk for himself he was talking to the lsu ad. Miles did not have to call, everyone sucks him and his overrated team. Dawgs would kick their ass.

Michigan was his source. Do you have earwax buildup? How many times does he have to say it.

If it was miles' agent that was his source, then miles told him to do it. Miles controls everything. Miles would have told him to play both teams against each other. So than he would have sabatoged his on team with the erronous report.

So which is it anon, can not have it both ways.

@Anon 3:44:

The AP poll is completely meaningless when figuring out the BCS formula.

Miles was on Mike and Mike this morning and they asked him if he was definately not going to be the Michigan head coach and that he def. did not have contact with the Wolverines yet, and all he would fess up to is not talking to the Wolverines.
