The Twenty Or So Things On Dickie V's Mind That Have Nothing To Do With College Basketball Or The Game He's Calling (The Jimmy V Classic)
Tuesday, December 04, 2007
I'll be keeping track of those of the all inner workings of Dick Vitale's mind all season long, and even if you don't watch the game you can enjoy some of what Dickie V is thinking about other than College Basketball. Feel free to play along on your own and add any that I may have missed in the comments.

In all farirness to Dickie V this was over two games tonight both the KSU-ND and USC-Memphis games. I think we might be able to come up with a formula based on how many off the wall comments Vitale has to how close the games are, but that's not my job. Someone call Stats.Inc.
I will say this though....the most important thing Dickie V said all night was about Cancer research and the Jimmy V Foundation. For as much fun as I poke at Dickie V's expense he's a humanitarian and a saint for the work he's done following Jimmy Valvano's death, so this is what I'm proposing. Every bit of money you make me by clicking on the site and the ads on the edges for today...I'll double it and donate that to the Jimmy V Fund. We're not talking about thousands but it will be hundreds depending on how many of those things you click on today.
We've all been affected by the big C in some way or another and hopefully we can make a dent in that million dollars that Vitale is trying to raise this year. Thank you for reading and thank you for helping out.

You left out his comment about mizzou getting screwed out of a BCS bowl. That's #20.
This is the exact type of exprt Stephen A was referring to, in perpetuity, and so forth.
Expert.
Any chance we could get a link to his tremendous halftime speech?
You'd think ESPN would invite NC State would get invited to play in the Jimmy V. Classic.
But ESPN's involved, so, of course we get a Notre Dame/USC doubleheader. Yeah, it's all about the cure.
Excuse the brainfart in the first sentence of the previous post. Duh.
jpg,
do you ever get tired of the posting the same bullshit.
the charity picks the teams. fucking idoit. go back to tbl or post under your real name.
they donate more money than anyone yearly. so get your damn facts straights. they do stuff that doesn't get put on tv.
you are an idoit. nc state was on last week. get it jimmy v week. they even had on the nc state women. jimmy v started the yow foundation for women. the charity asks the teams to appear. nc state was in it last year, so think before you post. you make us all look bad. you fuck it up for all of us, because when they do something bad that deserves to be bashed we look like we are being nitpicky.
if you are going to talk about the bad stuff they do, at least get your information correct. you are acting like deadspin.
jpg,
idoit, who can't read or do research. jpg you don't thim jimmy v would want the best of college basketball. nc state was in it last year. they never have the same team 2 years in a row. they promote all of college basketball. both the men and women were on for jimmy v week.
jpg,
this is the only thing they do right. you wanna bash for the bullshit go right ahead. this no, this you do not fuck with. this is the only unselfish thing they do.
example leitch said they don't donate, they just want everyone else. bullshit his commentator called him out.
so jpg don't fuck with this
Despite the side convo that is above, outstanding idea AA. I know I iwll be clicking on them all day. I donated $20 (best a college kid can do) but I hope we get a couple hundred off of this site. The Big C is about the worst thing out there for anyone and Dickie V has done a tremendous job with the Jimmy V foundation and trying to find a cure for it.
BTW- Other news, Dickie V was really starting to lose his voice at the end of the night.
BTW #2- On ESPNU during the Bradley vs MSU game they showed a map with the city of Peoria in Indiana, wrong!
sorry about taking this personal, but when both groups help you without asking for anything in return you get defensive, especially when people post bullshit.
sorry AA and everyone for getting off track
I've never wanted my driving records more.
Good idea, AA.
Of course Dickie V was struggling, did you watch that USC/Memphis game??? There were over 40 turnovers...that was awful basketball.
Jim Valvano. Another celebrity who became a hero in death. Chuck Klosterman needs to write a sequel to Killing Yourself to Live.
Jimmy V was a scum bag coach who ruined programs and help lower college athletics into the toilet bowl. He recruited students who were barely functional literates, crooks, and drug users. Meanwhile, college administrators turned a blind eye because Jimmy V's teams win.
Let's hear it for win at all cost!
Jimmy V died of cancer. Unfortunately, lots of people die of cancer, and of AIDS, and of leukemia.
Jimmy V is not a saint or a hero. A saint represents the love ones who have to care for a person suffering from dementia. A hero represents a man who has beaten testicular cancer or a woman who has beaten ovarian and/or breast cancer. Want to meet people with a different take on life? Talk to men who no longer have testicles or women who no longer have breasts. That is a tough conversation.
A hero nor a saint recruits Chis Washburn. A hero or a saint helps Chris Washburn clean up his act. If Chris Washburn could not consistently
put a ball through a hoop hanging 10 feet off the floor, then dollar to doughnut says the living Jimmy V does not give a fig about Chris Washburn.
Jimmy V was a scum bag who belatedly got fired from NC State and was reborn as the lovable talking head thanks to the good people at ESPN.
How someone with so much integrity like Digger Phelps could sit next to his antithesis like Jimmy V is beyond me.
It is truly unfortunate that Jimmy V failed to live his life like he has lived his death.
Bevo, either that is a great point or you are going to Hell...I can't decide.
I must have clicked the links to the right a billion times. Good idea.
