Your Clemens Congressional Hearing Open Thread
Wednesday, February 13, 2008
I'm watching so I figured I'd try and to all of you a service by posting a few of the videos throughout the morning. There's been a lot of talk about Andy Pettitte "mis-remembering" and "natural tree roots" from Clemens and both he and McNamee are sticking to their stories. Clemens has also used two stories to explain the misremembering on Pettitte's behalf. One being that his wife read a USA Today report about it and another being that he and Andy watched a program on four older gentlemen using HGH to gain their quality of life back. Should be an interesting day.
Leave your thoughts and comments and I'll update this space with vids as I get them loaded.
Clemens Opening Statement....
Clemens gets confused and then turns to his council for help. This is the point in the hearing when it turns into a political war between Democrats and Republicans...
And your last video....Congressman Burton going after McNamee....
This whole thing is just one giant mess. No one can prove anything at all and never will be able to. It's a Political Standoff between Republicans and Democrats and hasn't solved a damn thing. Pointless if you ask me.

Not aimed at you, aa, I promise. But: I. Still. Don't. Care. At least not this much. I don't care how much ESPN shoves this shit down our throats. In fact, the more more they do it, the less I care. Am I the only one who feels this way? Possibly. Or do some of you out there agree?
I disagree with the "It's Congress, so it's important" angle. Because Congress always tackles the "important" issues. They're just as likely to talk about gay marriages than they are to talk about Iraq.
So important that every representative who asked their questions bailed once they were done.
I didn't care at first, but watching this stuff is pretty fascinating on multiple levels that have nothing to do with Baseball or steroids.
The majority of Republicans seem to be attacking McNamee and the Democrats are going for Clemens. The whole thing is just crazy. No one will ever know the truth and this is making it worse.
I agree aa, I must say this does make for intriguing television. Watching congressmen and women get giddy with anticipation over the potential of catching McNamee or Clemens in a lie is amusing. One last thing, what was Clemens' thinking when he asked his former nanny to come to his house to meet with him????? Roger just got caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
Ha good point Anon. That's a great way to describe it. They all like being on television way too much.
And the nanny thing is just another damning anecdote that will never be considered actual evidence. Just amazing.
Clemens is not very good at reading
Why does he have to keep bringing up his stats?
This thing would take a lot less time, if the members of congress bothered to hear with other questions were asked.
And I'm really getting tired of hearing Clemens constantly repeat and boast about his achievements in baseball while the question was about his conditioning...
Dang, Waxman just put that one person in her place, saying that each person gets to speak once, then Cummings speaks for the third or fourth time... that video's worth finding. That pretty much sums up why Congress' approval rating is in the teens.
I was saying the same thing Anon....this thing is just a joke at this point.
Please tell me you're gonna post the video of Waxman owning that woman.
Jayson Stark's live blog tells it all. A good read.
You are a DRUG DEALER!!! Priceless.
Funniest line so far:
Henry Waxman: "There was an injury to Mr Clemens' buttocks."
