Brian Kenny Deserves Some Sort Of An Award For This Interview With Chad Johnson

Thursday, April 03, 2008

I think I started getting sick of Chad Johnson around the time he broke out the HOF jacket during Week One last season. I've really just been tuning out this promotional tour he's doing to get traded. That was until Brian Kenny conducted an interview so classic that I had to pay attention (well that and the fact ESPN has replayed 40 times since last night).

Chad came on Sports Center sometime yesterday and talked with Kenny about his future and here was the awesome result.....

Awkward! I think we're all at the point where Kenny is. I understand that Chad wants to do what's best for Chad, but no is the time to just shut up now and play, whether it's with the Bengals or the Philadelphia Soul. Great job on not letting him off the hook BK (and don't let the fact that Dana Jacobson just called you Brian Kennedy upset you either).

Please, God, make it stop.

I don't care about Chad Johnson.
I don't care about T.O..
I don't care about Pacman.
I don't care who Tony Romo's dating.
I don't care about Randy Moss.

By the way, isn't this baseball, basketball, and hockey season? Or this this "Entertainment Tonight Season" for the NFL?

AA, I know you know that that was not aimed at you.

I know. I feel the same way, but if they are going to talk about him I'd love it to be as awkward as this.

Chad sounded like a sad soul in need of a friend, almost as if he was depressed that Kenny was leaving him.

He needs to sit down with Roy Firestone and just get it over with.

I know that this is an old, tired argument. But I am also SICK AND TIRED of this only being a story when it happens on their airwaves. Chad Johnson could have an awkward interview with Jay Glzaer or Adam Schefter, and it wouldn't even register a mention on their "newscast." But when he says it to them, it's news. Not only that, but they don't even lead with what he said. The lead is "Chad Johnson spoke to First Take today."

Who the hell thought it would be a good idea to have Chad Johnson do a live interview over the phone? I hope that they are unemployed today.

That interview is proof of how asinine ESPN's NFL coverage is during the offseason.

Chad's got a point, though. He gets all this crap when there are guys that get arrested and have habitual legal problems. The reason he gets crap is because he shows personality on the field, which goes against the grain.

THat has to be the oddest inteview I've ever seen. Chad Johnson just went on and on saying nothing. Brian Kenny should get an award for that interview.

What's worse? Calling him Brian Kinney or Kennedy?

Brian Kenny had to deal with enough bullshit from Beano Cook & Max Kellerman in his time as a host. He's always been one of my favorites.

You wonder what the conversation between Kenney and Doucho before the interview...I would assume they go over what they're going to talk about.

The Bungles are going to self-destruct again. LOL

Believe it or not, Chad and Kenney went for Round 2 this afternoon on ESPN Radio in NY.
