Your NFL Announcing Schedule: Week Three

Tuesday, September 18, 2007

Here's your weekly rundown of the Announcing Schedule for each game this Sunday brought to you by your Indiannapolis Colts' Cheerleaders! I think everyone needs to take a moment to welcome one Timothy Hasselbeck to the fray...I'm sure his woman is proud that he is now gainfully employed!

1PM Games:

CBS

San Diego @ Green Bay - Jim Nantz, Phil Simms
Miami @ NY Jets - Greg Gumbel, Dan Dierdorf
Buffalo @ New England - Kevin Harlan, Rich Gannon
Indianapolis @ Houston - Ian Eagle, Solomon Wilcots

FOX

San Francisco @ Pittsburgh- Kenny Albert, Daryl Johnston, Tony Siragusa
Detroit @ Philadelphia- Dick Stockton, Brian Baldinger
St. Louis @ Tampa Bay- Sam Rosen, Tim Ryan
Minnesota @ Kansas City- Matt Vasgersian, J.C. Pearson
Arizona @ Baltimore- Thom Brennaman, Tim Hasselbeck

4PM Games:

CBS

Jacksonville @ Denver - Dick Enberg, Randy Cross
Cincinnati @ Seattle - Gus Johnson, Steve Tasker
Cleveland @ Oakland - Bill Macatee, Steve Beuerlein

FOX

NY Giants @ Washington- Joe Buck, Troy Aikman
Carolina @ Atlanta- Ron Pitts, Tony Boselli

Can someone please send me free tickets to the Giants-Redskins game? It's my Birthday on Sunday and there wouldn't be a greater present in the world than letting me NOT hear Buck and Aikman call that game.

Alright!!! Joey Jo Jo Buck doing the Skins game...ugh.

If I was Pam Oliver, I would avoid Area 51...

If you do go to the game, I wouldn't bring a cake or anything. Not with Jared Lorenzen in town.

Damn, what did Pittsburgh do to deserve The Moose & Goose Show? Is this revenge for Cowher working at CBS or what?

And Fox sends its #1 crew to a mediocre NFC East matchup AGAIN.

Because that game is SO much more important and better than the San Francisco/Pittsburgh game.

Oh wait. New York's playing. It is important. Aikman and Buck are 2-for-2 in Fox/Giants opportunities.

And a point of clarification. I think the #1 team is important, but not because of the announcers. Yes, Aikman and Buck suck. So why am I so concerned? Because the #1 team has the best producers, the best director, the best TD, more cameras, better camera operators, and more competent graphics people.

Those resources would have been better spent in Pittsburgh.

Fuck you, anonymous, get a name. Never talk smack about the Redskins. Fox recognizes that neither the Steelers or 49ers have beaten anyone with a pulse this year so they are going for the big media markets.

That's the way it always is.

"That's the way it always is."

That doesn't make it right. And unlike the Redskins, the 49ers and Steeelers have both beaten a team that won a game.

Okay, enough smack. It's the New York Angle I hate. Fu*k Tiki. Fu*k Strahan. Fu*k Shockey. Fu*k Manning's shoulder. Fu*k "New York controversy du jour." I DON'T CARE! Now let's talk about some teams that actually deserve the attention.

I'll try to put up an identity soon. I have to create a new one.

And as AA points out, ESPN went for the money and the big markets and the Big NFC East game last night. And they got lower numbers than last year's DREADFUL Pittsburgh/Jacksonville game. A Jacksonville game outdrew a precious NFC East game? Name a team with fewer fans and a smaller (non Green Bay, non New Orleans) market

Sometimes I think these executives just assume that something is true, and they don't really try to test anything contrary to their theories.

And now Tim Hasslebeck is in the mix.

Don't tell me it's not true that all you have to do is play in New York and they just give you a television job.

Man, Jared Lorenzen is going to be an analyst in about 3 years.

Maybe Joe Buck has to an NFC East game because he's doing Red Sox/Yankees again on saturday again this week. Do they play every week or does it just seem that way?

I'm glad Tim hasselbeck works for Fox. They probably won't show shots of his ditzy wife all game long.

Theres no Red Sox/Yankees game this Saturday. The Red Sox are in Tampa and I have no idea where the Yankees will be but I'm going to guess it won't be in Tampa playing Boston.

I don't see how anyone could be surprised about FOX chosing Redskins/Giants over SF/Pitt. For one thing, there is no comparision of the media markets and thus the ratings involved in the two games. But from a football perspective (which I'm sure FOX hasn't considered) the 49ers, 2-0 though they be, are terrible. They're going to get blown out 40-3 this weekend, so FOX is making the right decision, but for the wrong reason.

Yeah, Buck and Aikman's a pretty bad draw, but at least we won't have to listen to Cris Collinsworth or Darryl Johnston.

Worst-case scenario for a Skins home game, IMO, is Bill Maas and Sam Rosen. Those guys seem to hate the Redskins worse than any of the godawful ex-Cowboys announcers.

I have an idea for Jared Lorenzen. When he retires, Fox should hire him as a fourth voice with the son of Marv, Moose, and Goose. Lorenzen and Saragussa would sumo wrestle at the fifty yard line at halftime!
