Cleaning Out The AA Inbox

Monday, September 24, 2007

You have to admit that if you were watching any football this weekend things Announcing wise were pretty bad. I read that Troy Aikman called and okay game (which would be the first Skins game he's called fairly) and that people enjoyed Chris Collinsworth as well, but for the rest of you broadcasters it was a down week.

Since I'm so behind today I figured I would share some of the better emails and quotes forwarded to me yesterday. Enjoy.....

From the Pats-Bills game: "...and the nickel back is gay. (pause) Randall Gay."
(Ryan in Mass)

“Did Keyshawn Johnson just say that Philly's hero is a washed up journeyman boxer? He knows Rocky is a movie right?”
(Steve)

“My nominee: The multiple times Pam Ward referred to Jarrett "Blue" of South Florida, despite the fact that it's spelled Buie and pronounce Boo-ey. Why get it right when you can just make it up?”
(Matt)

“Not sure if you caught this because it's pretty obscure but during yesterday's Jags-Broncos game, Randy Cross was talking about what a great job Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson did on the Georgia-Alabama game. The only problem is that the Georgia-Alabama game was on ESPN. Verne and Gary did South-Carolina-LSU.”
(JT)

“Lou Holtz is doing a stellar job with these pep talks. Adding Penn State to the list makes him 0-3.”
(JS)

“Was Keith Olbermann’s WPIA really a jersey? I can’t believe he can make this nonsense up and get away with it.”
(PD)

....and the funniest thing I've read in awhile......

“Do you think Brad Nessler has spent the last three weeks at Mike Tiricos house?”
(Matt)

(Yup. These are my read......wait a minute!)

I do Matt....I think they had a sleepover and braided each other's hair. Thanks to everyone for sending those in. If you ever have a rant or quote that you come across feel free to email it to me at AwfulAnnouncing@gmail.com. I'll find room for it somewhere.

Donovan McNabb should have been the WPIA for

1. playing the race card when he basically showed so much contempt for it when Rush Limbaugh used it, and

2. Playing the race card on a week when all that stuff was going on in Jena, LA. It kinda put his "suffering" in perspective.

@ Steve:

You know Rocky is a movie, I know Rocky is a movie, and Keyshawn knows Rocky is a movie. But do you think anybody in Philly knows Rocky is a movie? I'm betting the knuckleheads who were still booing McNabb and chanting Kolb's name after Donovan posted 300+ yards and 4 TDs in the first half couldn't figure it out.

@ Anonymous:

McNabb's interview may have aired last week, but it was originally conducted in August, before the national media picked up on the Jena story.

Oh, and McNabb didn't "not play the race card" in 2003, he simply blew Limbaugh off. (Which is still more than that blowhard deserves, if you ask me.) Besides, don't you think that, possibly, Donovan McNabb might have changed in the four years since Limbaugh's absurd commentary?

Does the idiot who commented on Olbermann know he was calling out the people who decided that the Eagles should wear those butt-ugly uniforms?
