The Pammy Awards Week Four

Monday, September 24, 2007

It was just an amazing weekend in Announcing. I think later I'm going to share some of the emails I got yesterday while the Awful GF was taking me to the Skins game (great present, but I don't think I'm ever going back to FedEx Field). Anywho, here are your Pammies from the College Football action over the weekend. The top spot obviously goes to Mike Patrick for his love of Britney Spears and Gary Danielson is coming on strong! You better watch your back Spielman!!!

10. "I don't think anyone heard the flag or the whistle."- Brad Nessler

9. "That is hitting a man right in the mustache." - Andre Ware (Via S2N)

8. "How about pig head at 9am?" - Erin Andrews (Via Steve)

7. "Johnson goes up the middle."- Dan Fouts (Via Anon)

6. "A fake is like a pair of shoes for women that go into a shoe store, they can't not buy them."- Charles Arbuckle (via Eric)

5. "They don't need a knockout to win. A TKO will be fine...maybe there'll be a Russian judge."- Gary Danielson (Via MW)

4. “I noticed your occasional paralysis kicked in at dinner when the check came”- Sean McDonough (Just a horrible joke after talking about Kevin Everett.)

3. "Gotta get that arm lubed up."- Dave Pasch

2. "Boston College is the best team in the Big East."- Lee Corso (Via Anon)

And of course your #1 quote of the weekend is from Mike Patrick...... (Video)

OK - I'm in full agreement with poor quality in the broadcast booth, and on the field. Why not let the cheerleaders do the sidelines play-by-play? Viewership would grow! As for how bad does it get - I'm in my 5th year of total refusal to hear or see anything on air, if Tim McCarver is invovled. And, I think Mussburger must get hard by saying John David Booty! He'll manage to get 20 or 30 in, when it's not even a USC game! What a putz! A lot of the pundits just aren't able to transfer what they did on the field up to the booth, and make it practical!

this poll is extremely flawed. mike patrick should be instantly vaulted to the top of the standings after britney-gate.

The poll isn't really votes, so I have to stick to the points system. There will be multiple Pammy Awards given at the end of the year and Patrick is guaranteed one.

Thats crap, the Fouts' one isn't good at all. Bentley's "He's a little undersized down in there" should be in the top 10.

Mike Patrick should really earn 13 points for that one.

Also, what color is Pam's hair exactly?

I would love to give Erin a pig's head at 9 am. And by "pig's head" I mean the worst 6 seconds of her life.

The shocker to me is Mark Jones is so low. He's just terrible and usually says several head scratchers a game. I guess the fact he works the C-level primetime now and not as many people on at that time works against him. If you want bad announcing, listen to him.

Danielson has to be the worst ever. It is torture to listen to him, especially when he does a Florida game since he LOVES UF. Take nothing away from the Gators since they have a great team this year, but he sounds like he is auditioning for Mick Huber's job when he leaves.

When Tim Tebow threw an INT against UT, he absolved TT of any blame and said, "Oh, that was the WR's fault." He also said, "Florida's WR's are gooder than last year." Gooder? Is that a word?

Is he married to Pam Ward?
