NLCS Game 3 Open Thread
Sunday, October 12, 2008
I'd be remiss if I didn't at least provide a place where those of you watching baseball tonight could discuss if you wanted to. Playoff series don't get started until Game 3 -- at least that's what the Dodgers hope, as they're down 2-0 to the Phillies, and tonight's game at Chavez Ravine is a must-win, obviously.
My prediction? Dodgers will get Game 3. That line-up can hit Jamie Moyer, and he can run hot and cold. The Dodgers will send out Hiroki Kuroda, who does much, much better at Dodger Stadium than he does on the road, plus these two teams are too evenly matched in most aspects for this to be so lopsided.

A Must win indeed, but I am pretty confident the Dodgers will pull it out this time.
Joe Buck is sporting one of the ugliest getups I think I have ever seen. Way too much yellow/gold.
*sighs* Fox didn't ditch that war memorial intro music this year, sadly.
Mary Hart seemed a little too excited during those introductions.
mary hart looked like satan's wife introducing the teams. i don't watch fox so i have no clue where she came from, but she should probably try makeup for whatever line of work she is in.
You're Fox. You're based in LA. And the best you can come up with is Mary, FUCKING HART???
This is looking ugly early on...
"When that happened, they were anything but blue" - Tim McCarver on the Dodgers' fans reaction of the Dodgers adding Manny.
joe buck just said 'fly ball to right' on a fly ball to left
I missed the five runs, obviously. Anyone wanna describe the hit sequence?
mary hart? anyone have an answer why she was chosen? or why she went sans makeup?
@ S2N: The Dodgers got a bunch of hits, including a bases loaded double that scored 3 runs. In the top of the 2nd, the Phils added one with a base hit by Feliz that scored Howard and now Furcal just hit a homerun for the Dodgers. 6-1 LA
What a horrible looking swing by Furcal on that homerun... the only thing that was missing was the shot of him with his eyes closed.
Damn, looks like Moyer's finished.
I guess Chuck didn't want to leave Methuselah in the game much longer.
The Phils are pitching inside a lot and the Dodgers are getting pissed. This could get ugly on places other than the scoreboard.
Did they just air a Russell Martin f-bomb?
Gotta love Victorino there, the "Throw at my ribs, not at my head" pantomime was quite amusing. And of course, spot on.
Fox just showed a replay of Martin screaming the f-bomb...
this game is going to get real good
Benches are empty.
Ooh, we got words going! Manny is NOT HAPPY.
WTF? Angry Manny!!! I love angry Manny!
Most bench clearing incidents are just stupid.
But I am 100% in favor of a one-on-one battle between Mariano Duncan and Davey Lopes. Old man fights are cool.
That was great, Ex-Dodger Lopes and Ex-Phil Bowa were the most pissed coaches...
Way to make a 6-1 game great to watch.
@OMDQ
Yeah, but Davey has at least 15 years on Duncan... does that still make it interesting? Maybe if it was Bowa vs Lopes
Mike Reilly is the umpires' crew chief? Milton Bradley must love that.
rob - Wow, 18 years difference. I didn't realize Lopes was so old. Still, I say we put them in the Over-45 class and let them have at it. Bowa can take the winner if he wants.
after a ball being thrown behind Victorino's HEAD...
"That's the safest place to throw a ball at a player" Tim McCarver...wow
also Martin threw down a middle finger for the signal on the pitch to victorino...douche
Anonymous - That's not what McCarver said. He said that the safest place is about a foot ABOVE the batter's head. He specifically noted, correctly, that behind the head is the WORST place, because the instinctive reaction is to fall backwards.
ahh maybe i misheard
more talk about sweeney and sturtze please....
wonder if Joe likes the Dodgers...hmmm
The Phils have to have a big inning here, imo. Rollins and Victorino are due up 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
not mentioned...
they were playing "why can't we be friends" during the benches clearing.
"Chase Utley cannot take any chances down by 6" - Tim McCarver
It's a 6 inning game in the top of the 7th, wouldn't now be the time to take a chance?
"He uncorked that one like Troy Aikman" - Tim McCarver
They just put up random caricatures of Buck and McCarver. I will never know why...
Final: Dodgers 7, Phightin' Phils 2
somebody forgot to mention what tim was saying about a pitcher and the coffee. That was a pretty funny line last night.
AA,
You get any bits from the Nuggets/Suns game last night on TNT? Barkley was with Miller and Marv for the entire game and had me rolling. There were too many gems to even mention.
