Umm....What Was That Again Mike?

Tuesday, August 14, 2007

Mike Schmidt was on Harry Kalas in the booth on Saturday and he had a lot to talk about. Baseball, The Hall of Fame, and beating his wife. Wait, what???

Audio

Harry: "It's a full count here to Willie Harris. Getting down to another sport, Michael Jack, how's your golf game?"
Mike Schmidt: "Pretty good, Harry. I've been beating the hell out of my wife pretty regularly."
Awkward pause; muted laughter
Harry: "At golf, I hope? At golf, I hope. Line drive and that's a fair ball..."

Most people would have probably lost it on air when something along these lines was said, but Kalas is a pro. Too funny.

Michael Jack: S**t! (Philadelphia Weekly)

(Many thanks to RUTS for being Philly enough to have found this. And that is his wife in the photo above with the ever rad Oakridge Boys)

Jim Brown beats his wife at golf, too. And so did OJ.

Harry had enough experience with Rich Ashburn's double entendres (e.g., "I've slept with a lot of old bats"). I'm sure Schmitty knew it, too.
