CBS One Ups ESPN Gameday In Baton Rouge Coverage
Wednesday, October 03, 2007
Everyone knows that ESPN basically has all Saturday Morning to hype up whichever ESPN Game they have at 3:30 or night game they are airing on ABC. They head to Oregon, Nebraska, etc. to get the buzz going about their televised games early. Rarely does ESPN travel to a site where a CBS game is to take place, but they'll be doing so this Saturday in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Now if I were CBS I'd be pissed because ESPN will have all morning to let people know about Ohio State-Purdue that evening on ESPN while CBS waits until 3pm to remind people about Florida-LSU. So how does CBS plan to counteract this publicity for ESPN? How about sending their national morning show crew there on Friday......
Although the ESPN College GameDay crew is going to be at LSU all day Saturday, network television is getting a jumpstart on Friday. That's right ESPN! CBS will send their regular news staff a full day ahead of you to get press for their game! What are you going to do about it? Not a damn thing. Everyone's going to be watching FLA-LSU over OSU-PUR anyway, but I still thought this was an interesting and sneaky tactic by CBS. Bravo Eye!
CBS and “The Early Show” will be reporting from LSU starting at 6 a.m. Friday to soak in some of the pre-game activities and tailgating. Dave Price, “The Early Show” weather anchorman and features reporter, is appearing live at LSU.

I liked it better when the news departments and sports departments hated each other.
Now they all have to worry about the bottom line and turn everything into a corporate suckfest.
You're talking about CBS, the CLEAR #1 network in the Nielsen Ratings?
And the #2 network in the 18-49 demo (#1 minus "American Idol")?
More than old people watch.
ESPN is only at Baton Rouge a second time because of the shitstorm they got last year when they overlooked the three biggest games of the week (none of which were on their network) to go to USC. They know they'd get it again if they didn't come.
As long as synergy is the name of the game, it's good to see somebody counterpunch, even if it is relatively small.
dude you have to be a moron to know this is not the big game, apparently we still have morons.
including myself
No one watches morning shows but Housewives, and its actually Grandmas who watch the Early Show over GMA and the Today Show, and since Football fans will find the game, this idiotic programming by CBS
counterpunch what, they are going to lsu for a blowout.
if auburn can stop tebow, lsu will have no problems.
And look at the article below this one on the webpage. Yes, AA's Anti-ESPN agenda is finally exposed. Give me a break. He's critical of everybody who deserves it.
Thanks for "getting" it Anon. It's not my fault ESPN deserves it the most...just kidding.
Nothing says "football" more than Julie Chen LIVE FROM BATON ROUGE!!!
Every program on every network exists only to promote upcoming programs. They hype the shit out of one show and as soon as it starts they use it to hype another show.
Nobody watches the CBS morning show. What's more is that nobody who does watch the morning show is suddenly going to say "LSU plays Florida this week? OMG, I gotta watch that!"
Also, the morning shows are news shows. They have news segments, but they are more like variety shows than just news shows.
If Katie is hosting the Evening News from midfield of Death Valley, then we have something to bitch about.
I think Katie is busy asking Ahmadinejad what his favorite color is (I'm guessing not pink).
This isn't a big deal for a low-rated morning show to be broadcasting 36 hours early from Baton Rouge, as long as some blue hair isn't holding a sign saying "Hannah Storm is Wearing a Merkin."
Millhouse!
I predict a low turnout for the CBS appearance. The only way to get Tiger fans up that early involve the words "Free" and "Beer".
F*** ESPN, f*** them right in the ear.
dude calm down and take a cold shower.
if they wanted to hype their game they would not be going to lsu for the second time.
mark this day down as the day the bias was let out of the closet.
who watches cbs old people
