Is It Trade Your Job Day At The Leader Today?

Monday, July 23, 2007

Mike and Mike have been everywhere lately. No matter how you feel about them...you can't miss them. While the stunts and assignments have been goofy and light-hearted one thing has suffered throughout their adventures.

Their Radio Show.

They've skipped the last two, or two out of three, Mondays...one because they did an AFL game on Sunday (At 1pm...ESPN put the hosts from the later game on their show, and they had to fly back from San Jose), and two because today....Mike and Mike are hosting Sports Center at 6pm.

Like them or hate them...I think they used to have a pretty good show. They gave a good rundown of the previous day's events, had good guests, and seemed to enjoy each other's company. Now it seems like they've run out of stuff to talk about. And like me....you know there's really NOTHING to talk about (Bonds, Steroids, Point-shaving refs, Mike Vick, etc, etc).

This goes right along with everything ESPN has done lately, but be sure to check out how they handle hosting SC tonight at 6pm. Should be fun.

P.S.- Rece Davis and Kirk Herbstreit were/are hosting for them today. Be sure to take a listen to hear KH sound like an dolt on the radio. Could he possibly come up with more sweeping generalizations?

You know, I'm just gonna put this out there. I really liked Greeny's book. There, I said it.

I listen to Herbie everyday here in Columbus: Land of the Idiots. He is pretty general with his opinions but he's still one of the good things that ESPN has.

Herbie is defintintely NOW.

Mike and Mike have officially become a Morning Zoo show, with all of the idiotic stunts and song parodies by Joaquin, and the "whiny metrosexual" vs. the big "dumb ex-jock" schtick.
And I have a feeling that this SC thing is going to blow up in the faces of ESPN's PTB. Can you say over-exposure?

Typical shit from the WWL--give us something decent, then beat us over the head with it and watch it morph into an annoying, ubiquitous force that every sports fan wants to see destroyed.

Just cancel the show. Heck, have them cloned, so that they can do everything. Not that I'll watch, but that must be what they want.

yeah, they suck, but seriously, sports radio sucks. In the beginning , they were better than what there was because they were both self effacing and they had access to zany shit, like Elias sports bureau and Peter Gammons. Now that they've zazzed it up with High Definition TV radio broadcasts, it's just sick. I used to tune in right after the weather channel for a few minutes to see what was up, but I skip them now.

All sports radio sucks when there's no sports. Try filling 4 hours with Sergio Garcia choking his title away.

Yeah I like Mike&Mike and enjoy their show but this is a trainwreck. It's not Sportscenter, it's Mike&Mike with Sportscenter graphics and Golic in a suit. They should have just done a normal SC and let the comedy and slipups happen naturally.

nice guys- seem to like what they're doing, but too many skits and nonsports talk. i'm a big buster olney fan and i like ESPN showcasing him, but i think in general, ESPN has deviated from sports and when they do talk sports, it's the same old rehashed stories. you'll never grow a product or sport, when you're trying to rely on big names and not the teams and players that make up that team. i'd love to see some competition for ESPN as their monopoly is getting tiresome.
