Is Andre Agassi Your Newest Tennis Announcer?
Friday, September 07, 2007
Aggasi appeared in the booth for what was schedule to be a couple of points. He ended up meshing so well that he stayed for an entire match....
McGuinness, the network’s coordinating producer for Open coverage, explained yesterday how Andre Agassi ended up in the broadcast booth for Roger Federer’s match against Andy Roddick on Wednesday night. The day before, Perry Rogers, Agassi’s agent and longtime friend, told the producer that Agassi would be spending one day in New York for his charity and “would love to stop by the booth to do a few games,” McGuinness said. Can you believe that? The gall of Agassi....he actually analyzed the play in front of him??? F him....seriously Andre....F You!
McGuinness said that Ted Robinson, the play-by-play announcer, had given Agassi “some Broadcasting 101 tips,” earlier in the day, but that it was clear he was going to be special. Once on the air, Agassi analyzed both players’ games more technically than what viewers usually hear.
AGASSI HAS HIS SAY (NY Times)

I was watching, and he was actually really interesting. There were also some great tidbits from his playing days, like how he would watch tons of tape and noticed that Boris Becker always gave away where he was serving by sticking out his tongue (reminded me of Mike Tyson's Punch-Out).
Andre Agassi is trying to bring this site down!!! Can't you see it!!! And he's bringing Jon Lovitz with him!!!
Agassi was great, maybe now we will get less McEnroe talking about the good ole days.
Agassi was actually pretty good with McEnroe, who still calls a fair game with criticism and praise.
Time for USA to mess it all up...bring in Keith Olbermann!!
Aggasi's presence & comments during the match were quite a gift. His insights were razor sharp. Let's hire him as an announcer. He's a true champion, so his perspective is priceless.
The interchange between McEnroe & Andre was very interesting. And, for one of the few times, McEnroe even showed a little humility. Bravo to both these great champions. Keep it coming.
Thanks Andre for coming on the show & sharing your insights.
Is that Jon Lovitz?
And if so, why isn't he rallying harder for 'The Critic' to be brought back to television?
