Who's Ready For New NBC Technology Tonight?

Thursday, September 06, 2007

I know I am!!! Well adding to what seems like a never ending collection of gadgets, angels, reverse angles, cameras, microphones, and graphics....NBC has decided to break out a few more for tonight's game.

Some of the technology NBC Sports will be using to make the games more enjoyable and easier to understand for viewers comes from the labs of parent company General Electric. It is using surveillance technology from General Electric to upgrade a feature it calls "NBC It." On replays, it allows NBC to magnify an area of the screen, giving a closer look at whether a player's knee was down or his foot was out of bounds. The new technology ensures that when a small part of the screen is blown up, it doesn't get blurry.

NBC also is rolling out a virtually enhanced goal line for replays of plays inside the five-yard line when it looks like the offense is about to score. Starting with an overhead view from NBC's cable-cam, the technology raises the goal line on replays, enabling the viewer to see where it is, even if the real goal line is covered by a pile of players.

"You'll have a much clearer and hopefully more understandable view of whether or not the player crossed the goal line," Mr. Gaudelli said.
Umm okay? Was the camera that was placed right next to the line judge that showed a player falling across the line not enough??? Guess not.

"We're now going to get a look at 'Jedi Cam' where we can see that Joseph Addai levitated across this plane raised 4 feet about the turf. In a related note...he's not the droid you are looking for and you can go about your business. Back to you Al and John!"- Andrea Kramer

Reggie Bush.....MINDFREAK!

.....Are you ready???

"NBC It." Jesus H. Tapdancing Christ.

I'm sure that Monday Night Football will have its own version of the same technology, which it will call "ESPN Depth."

There is no way that Andrea Kremer was accepted into the Jedi council.

NBC It would be hella useful for their NHL coverage to see if the puck crossed the line, they should consider that come winter
