Digger Phelps Is A Romantic And A Playwright!

Thursday, November 15, 2007

Not only is our friend Digger Phelps running for President, he's also going to be the lead in a play entitled "Love Letters". Via Wikipedia....

Love Letters is a play by A. R. Gurney. Nominated for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, it centers on just two characters, Melissa Gardner and Andrew Makepiece Ladd III. Using the epistolary form sometimes found in novels, they sit side by side at tables and read the correspondence - in which they discuss their hopes and ambitions, dreams and disappointments, victories and defeats - that has passed between them throughout their separated lives. It is only at the sad ending that they realize they were really love letters all along.
Sounds moving actually, and cute. I've been to one play in my life (Camelot starring the late/great Robert Goulet), so if anyone's seen it please tell me if there's a love scene. Also, if you're in NYC this Saturday be sure to check Digger out!

(Many thanks to Justin for sending the lovely photo above!)

That isn't "Laverne & Shirley" Cindy Williams, right? Nothing would be more romantic than that Cindy Williams and Digger Phelps.

It's not that she didn't realize they were love letters all along. It's just that they're all covered with a million different colors of highlighter and that's a major turnoff.

There is no kiss. There is no love scene. The play actually has no movement. The two actors read the letters from a binder. Some are funny, some are sexual, some just move time along.

Hmm, to each his/her own I guess. Don't know if I would take that in or not.

Um... that's Portland, Maine's WCSH newsanchor Cindy Williams. I've watched her broadcast the news since I was a little kid. WTF is she doing in a play with Digger Phelps?

he's not a playwright, that would mean he wrote the play. he's just an actor, if you can even call it that. no offense to digger, but the play is basically a man and a woman taking turns reading letters back and forth, not a lot of chance to actually "act"

Yeah Cindy is the local News Anchor in Portland Maine. She was actually runner up in 1986 Miss USA along with Halle Berry. She can't read the teleprompter to save her life, I don't know how whe is going to do a play. Nice Chest though!
