NFL Week Twelve Open Thread

Sunday, November 25, 2007

S2N is going to miss the live-blog tonight, and I'm working on a computer from 1986, so we're skipping the thing entirely. Keep emailing me your quotes and thoughts on Week Twelve and I'll post them throughout the day.

Well Joshua Cribbs is on pace to set the single season record for kickoff return yardage. He is certainly up there with Hester.

Agreed, but wouldn't you pick Hester if you had the choice?

Gus Johnson might change his mind if he just saw Devon Hester return a punt 75 yards for a touchdown.

Hester just returned a kickoff 88 yards for another touchdown. Would you like to reconsider that statement now, Mr. Johnson?

I'm pretty sure it was J.C. Pearson who said: "It's a high pressure situation and he just pulled out too quickly." - Describing Gus Frerotte fumbling the last second snap.

Greg Gumbel reading a promo: "When you want the truth, ask the nanny. It's CSI: Miami on CBS Monday."
Dan Dierdorf: "Well, I could just ask you."
Gumbel: "Hahaha, what...oh yeah."

Sure thing Konck....I guess here is as good a place as any.

Keith Olbermann just tried to bust out an impression of John Turturro in O Brother, Where Art Thou? which of course was completely lost on Costas and Collinsworth, and probably about 95% of the people watching. I wasn't aware 'Pete' was such a highly quoted character.

Olbermann also questioned whether "they" got Hester highlights west of the Rockies. I'm not sure what team he was referring to, since Denver is on the east side of the Rocky Mountains.

i forget why some athletes like saying their high schools during the starting lineups. but why is it only one certain race that prefers to say it? their colleges got them closer to the nfl than their h.s. did.

Some of them may not have a good relationship with their college. I'm almost positive that's why Willie Parker said his high school's name instead of UNC earlier this year.

Anyone notice Keith doing the Ravens-Chargers highlights? It was awful - almost as bad as the 'Boom goes the dynamite' kid.

AM later this game: Gafney made a great catch on that play in the end zone, but he did not come out after half time. We are told he was kicked off the team for doing the "fly eagle, fly" celebration.

Tonight, on ESPN radio, Freddy Coleman sez, "Both teams enter overtime tied at 31 apiece." I guess he could have added even more redundancy by including "together" or "each".

Keith Olbermann was everywhere tonight - he was even on another unwatchable episode of The Simpsons.
I heard this exchange in the car on the national broadcast of Denver-Chicago (Sports USA Network?):
Sideline reporter: "The weather's really getting bad out here. Little balls of ice are falling and Broncos players are slipping all over the place. They're not used to weather like this."
PbP Man: In the East, we call that 'hail.'"
1) I guess it never snows in Denver or anything.
2) I only watch the Weather Channel for Stephanie Abrams, but isn't that sleet?

I was at a bar so I didn't catch the name of the Patriots defender, but Al Michaels distinctly refered to So and So "whacking Freely".

In public, no less.

Why is it that Tiki and Olby try to out douche each other? All of those analysts were ganging up on the Iggles, so why are they on tv if they don't know enough to give the Iggles a little chance, just a tiny one...it goes deep into the memory hole, gotta get ready for next week's ballswabbing of Brady.

Could NBC try to make that studio get up any bigger, christ almighty, do they have WOPR in there somewhere?

Go to DEFCON 4, Tiki just said "in totality".
