How Many Yards Is "Giving Him The Business" Worth?

Monday, November 26, 2007

This has already been everywhere, but it deserves a sport here as well. This is Referee Walt Ron Cherry explaining a personal foul during the MD-NC State game on Saturday. Enjoy!

Found at Mister Irrelevant, but thanks for everyone who emailed this in.

Update: Here's the original giving him the business video that everyone is referring to. The downward punch is by far the best part. Thanks to C for sending it my way.

The Jets/Bills video: the refereee's name is Red Cashin. He was known for his 'casual' approach to the field mic -- a true legend.

I don't know what I like better about that Jets-Bills clip: The actual clip itself or the scores at end of it with Washington beating "New Oleans" 14-6.

That wasn't Red Cashion.

Nope, Ben Dreith...

Actually the original referee to call giving him the business is Ben Dreith. Also known for his "roughing the passer" call in the 1976 playoff game between the Raiders and Patriots. His call let Oakland score, replays showed clearly there was no illegal contact.
