More Rumors About Tony Kornheiser Leaving Monday Night Football

Thursday, November 29, 2007

I mentioned this about a month ago, but with Tony signing back on with local DC Radio this past October I thought he might be considering leaving MNF. Well after that post, most of you noted that Kornheiser did the same thing last year and still ended up back in the booth. Well now there are even more rumors circulating that the ESPN Analyst might be leaving the gig for good.....

DCRTV is hearing more rumblings that Washington Post superstar sports columnist Tony Kornheiser will not be returning to ESPN's "Monday Night Football" next season. We're told that Kornheiser wants to focus on his local morning radio show, which resumes on new talker 3WT in January, and on his ESPN "PTI" afternoon TV program. Kornheiser's decision to give up the "MNF" color spot could cause some hurt feelings at ESPN, which removed sports media rival and former Redskin great Joe Theismann from the "MNF" broadcast booth before this season's shows started. However, Kornheiser has publicly said that he and Theismann have a friendly relationship.
For those of you not from the area DCRTV is pretty "in-the-know" in regards to local Radio, but they have started unsubstantiated rumors in the past. Who really knows what Tony will do, but if this rumor is true it would honestly be the best thing for the guy.

Kornheiser Returns To DC Radio, Departure From MNF Imminent? (Awful Announcing)

I hope this isn't part of a campaign for fans to rally behind him and beg him to come back.

Because if it is, he's gonna be sorely mistaken.

AA, do you like Kornheiser's radio show? I used to like it solely because he talked to journalists rather than athletes. I didn't listen to his last run on WP radio tho.

I heard him once proclaim his love for Hillary Clinton.

He's a deranged man.

I don't bleive Kornhieser will be leaving the MNF booth in my opinon for a couple of reason 1- HE is getting paid alot of money. 2- I think he is having too much fun diong the games with Jaws and Tirico. Defenatly more fun than he head with that WIndbag Theisman.

He knows nothing about football at all. He just constantly rambles about the quarterbacks because he could not name five guys on the field. They should fire him anyway.

I got addicted to his show this past spring...he's really a hoot. To the person who asked, yes, he mainly has journalist guests, not athletes. BTW -- and it may just be a schtick -- he REPEATEDLY says on the radio show that he thinks he's useless on MNF, and on the ESPN football draft coverage show too...I wouldn't be surprised if he was leaving it.

God I hope he leaves. I don't need any stupid journalist (otherwise known as a FAILED ENGLISH MAJOR) harping on some stupid issue I don't care about.

I care about the FOOTBALL GAME, not Tony Kornholes' opinion on whatever he's screeching about this time around.

I wouldn't call Tony Kornheiser "useless on Monday Night Football". That's using four words too many.

He has made Monday Night Football completely unwatchable, and not only should he be removed from the show, but whoever had the bright idea to add him in the first place should be fired and blacklisted, and his/her family thrown out to starve in the streets at the first opportunity to do so.
