Golf TV Anchor Apologizes After Recent Comments Regarding Tiger Woods

Tuesday, January 08, 2008

I don't know what in a person's right mind would make them ever use the word "lynch" regarding a human being never-the-less and African American one, but apparently it's happened (and in Golf!).

Golf TV anchor Kelly Tilghman decided the other day that she knew the best way for players to beat Tiger Woods. Yep, you guessed it....lynch him.....

Golf Channel anchor Kelly Tilghman has made a round of apologies after saying that young golf players should "lynch Tiger Woods in a back alley" as a way to compete with the most dominant player in the sport's history, ESPN reported Tuesday.

Tilghman made the remarks during Friday's telecast of the PGA Tour's opening event at the Mercedes-Benz Championship.

A Golf Channel spokesperson told Newsday that Tilghman apologized during Sunday's telecast and also to Woods' representatives.
What the hell was she even thinking? I swear people don't think anymore before they talk.

UPDATE: The previous photo up was not Kelly Tilghman, but Kay Cockerill. Sorry for the mix up.

She's awful.

And annoying.

Women can try to talk macho, but they just can never quite pull it off. They go too far, like this bimbo.

Is she an intern in college who hasn't taken Journalism 101 yet?

You know how good golf broadcasters shut up every once in a while?

Well, she doesn't do that.

um, wow...i don't mean to overreact, but are they actually keeping her on-air?

how does this thought even get started in someone's head?

can't wait to read about this comment next week:

"venus williams is really dominating on the court, i think the other tenis players should team up and gang rape her."

"I swear people don't think anymore before they talk."

I'm assuming that this another jab at Emmitt Smiff or Shannon Barbaro.

She gets a pass, she's a woman, they need more women calling men's sports, because there just aren't enough.

We need diversity, that's what everybody says.

Imagine if Ken Venturi had said this. The Today show would have been wall-to-wall.

I wonder what was she thinking. Then I ask myself the more salient question, "Was she thinking?"

she said "lynch", f-ing "lynch"!

how in the world is that even the smallest bit better than 'nappy headed hoe'? And besides that, the 'nhh' comment was on morning radio, which admits to being a joke, this was the golf channel talking about the worlds best golfer...simply amazing.

Women broadcasters can do no wrong.

I would assume she wouldn't be given anymore important gigs.

But that would be wrong, as she's a chick and the world needs more chicks announcing men's sports.

For diversity, and all that shit.

Why did it take 2 days to apologize?

Why did she have to include "in a back alley"?

And why is not a bigger story?

Simply amazing compared to what Fuzzy Zeller said and what a big deal that was.

What a great way to start the season.

that's okay on Fox Sports radio Sunday night after the NFL games I'm not sure who the announcers were but they were discussing the Jags Steelers game and the one who seemed like the ex athlete says "they went into Pittsburgh took their lunch, beat their wives and stole their dogs."

I thought that's a little inappropriate isnt it?

based on show schedules it may have been Ray Buchanan who made the comment I heard.

Heard the audio on Czaban this AM.

She sure did say it as if she was a white elite racist from the South.

She is from the South and a Dukie...read into that what you will.

I am puzzled why she hasn't been asked to come forth and psychoanalyze herself in front of America.

Yeah, this one is bad. I cannot figure out how the word lynch is even in anyone's vocabulary these days. Put her back on Golf Central, and put either Lerner or bring back Jim "Sports" Kelly to do the announcing. She is brutal and does not have the gravitas to handle such a position, lets face it, she is the voice of PGA golf. I am sure Finchy is not too pleased down @ Ponte Vedra. Not even being sexist here, but she stinks.

Enough of your PC nonsense and complaining about offensive remarks. I didn't realize all sports fans had to be politically correct.

This woman is much younger than Jimmy the Greek or Don Imus and you're trying to turn her into George Wallace or Robert Byrd. There are sports fans who don't care for politically correct liberal/progressive nonsense.
