Kiss Your Undefeated Season Away Pats......Oh No....(Updated With Game Footage)

Monday, December 03, 2007

God things were going so well for the Ravens. They were running all over the Pats and scoring TDs...multiple TDs! They were in such a groove Brian Billick was blowing kisses at Rodney Harrison....

A Boller pick set New England on its Merry way, but the Baltimore D was there. They stopped the Pats on 4th Down not once, but twice. On the first stop Baltimore's coaches called a timeout before the play. The players looked just gassed, but they came back and stopped them again! But there was a false start penalty on New England that gave them room, and then it happened.

Flag, completion, completion, Flag, Incomplete, Extremely Questionable Flag (I take it back...it was definitely holding), Juggled Touchdown, Review, Upheld, Hail Mary Caught, Down at the Two.

I'll have video up of the last few minutes, but I think Tony Kornheiser said it best at the beginning of the telecast. Every Dynasty needs people to love them and a lot more to hate them and even though I hate the Ravens I've never rooted for a Football Team harder outside of the Redskins before. And I for sure the hell hate the Patriots, but hell they stepped up when they had to.

At least now that ass Mercury Morris can sweat things out for a few weeks (more on him tomorrow). Man that was just agonizing.

Update: Here are the last few moments in case you missed them.....

I am glad, AA, that you're rational about this game (not that you're usually not). When you're a Patriots fan who really doesn't want to argue...er...games like this can cause some irrational hate to be slung around.

Which flag were you saying was questionable? The holding in the end zone? The thing that struck me about that play was that it was totally unnecessary...there were two other Ravens there to defend the pass if Winborne had simply...done nothing.

NHZ- I take it back....just saw the video and it was definitely holding. He let go in the endzone, but he held Watson the whole way.

It might be a bit JG....Google Video is a slow one.

Help us, Obi-Wan Roethlisberger. You're our only hope.

You just can't count out Tom in these type of situations. After that timeout that wiped away the conversion for the Ravens defense, you could already book your flights back to New England knowing full well 12-0 was intact. "Tragic inevitability" is a cold bitch to swallow.

Don't worry, Mercury. They're definitely on the block and passing out middle finger-shaped ginger snaps as welcoming themselves to the neighborhood.

Dec 4, 2007, 1:06:00 AM

WHEW!!! But they are 12-0 ad Mercury's throat must feel a little dry and his shirt collar feels a little tight.

I think the Steelers are the last chance to beat this team because you know Mangenius is in the for the ass kicking of his life and then its the Fish and then Elisha and the G-girls.

I remember Septembr of 2001 when Drew Bledsoe got hurt and Tom Brady came into the game against the Jets and I said who the fuck is this guy? 6 and half seasons, 3 Super Bowl titles and 2 Super Bowl MVP selections later all I have to say is thankyou Mo Lewis for crushing Bledsoe. You've given us one of the coolest players Ive ever seen.

I am not a Patriots fan, but I have complete disdain for the 1972 Dolphins, to the point where I'm actually pulling for the Pats to run the table to shut them up once and for all. Don Shula showing up in the broadcast booth was really over the top...

Absolutely ridiculous final minutes of that game. Once Boller threw that pick in the 4th, you had to believe it was the Pats time. After watching all those heart wrenching plays that kept their final drive alive, you just have to think a 19-0 is destined to happen for these guys. Three of their last four games have gone to the wire, yet they remain unscathed and that's the sign of a champion.

It should be mentioned that on the first "flag" there, Brady scrambled for a 13-yard gain and the first down...What a ridiculous game.

I can't believe what a complete and total jackass Mercury Morris is.

AA...Why do you hate the Ravens? I thought all you DC types just ignored Charm City and all it has to offer...Worse yet, y'all consider it a *suburb* of the logic-free zone...

Last night may have been the only way to get yinzers to root for the Patriots. For one thing, we may actually hate the Ravens more than we hate New England. (Divisional rivalry and all.)

But right now, we want the Patriots. They've derailed the Steelers enough times. It's our turn now.

Besides, would you want to face New England coming off their first loss of the season? No way, not us. Let the Jets deal with that revenge game.

It was definitely holding and definitely a catch in the endzone. The Ravens played so hard, their defense was viscious. Of course the ESPN announcers are so annoying. If they would just shutup and let the game flow once in a while it would be much better. They had that terrific shot of Billick blowing the kiss and since Shula was in the booth all 4 had to say something and it sounded like "ahhhhbiilickcoachyouhaaaawowyouseethatwowahhhcoachyouneverhaaaatoyouropponhaaawow!!!"

The Ravens need to stop whining. If you don't like the penalties, stop making them. There wasn't even anything especially controversial in this game, but they're still saying things like "we had to play the Pats and the refs".

(Disclaimer: I lived in Cleveland in 1996, so you can guess how I feel about the Ravens.)

A.A., I can't wait to hear you talk about ESPN's coverage of Sean Taylor's funeral. Here's my impression of ESPN's coverage:

Jesse Jackson was there.

Why does Korny think it's a good thing to bring up English majors? Is he 19 years old? Sometimes it sounds like he is auditioning for a telecom class on mass media/radio.

He comes up with ideas like karma and snakebit and tragic inevitability...just shut the hell up Korny.

"Luck is the residue of design"??? He's like a more annoying but also more obnoxious Dennis Miller, if that was ever possible.

Hit Tom Brady and that makes things different...witness how the Broncos treated him, threw him off his game.

Big Ben just wins...he finds a way. The Pats pull off tough 4th qtr wins however...gotta respect that.

That's a huge game...

Bart Scott is a douchebag, but I think he can get a break here...that had to have sucked.

There was a lot of BS about the SBXL calls being tickey tack...this isn't new.

Anon- I think I'm officially done with the Sean Taylor stuff.

WH- I don't hate Baltimore the city just the Ravens. My dad grew up a Colts fan and when they left became a Skins fan. I was raised with the Skins and as soon as the Ravens moved back into town and won the Super Bowl he jumped ship. I'm still bitter about that bandwagon move.

I don't care what no one says, Mike Tirico is ESPN's best play by play man.

Just when no one expected it, the Colts are coming back and playing quite well of late. The Pats have been exposed and Indianapolis will have a shot to KO them again. The Steelers are also capable of beating them. Just somebody do it, PLEASE and if possible, prevent them from winning a Super Bowl as well.
