Two More Baseball Tonight Commercials To Air (Updated)

Tuesday, April 01, 2008

Many of you wrote in yesterday saying you enjoyed the new Baseball Tonight commercial with John Kruk's briefcase and the bugs. I didn't think it was that funny, but that doesn't really matter. Well for those of you who enjoyed it there are two more recreations you might enjoy....

The three 30-second spots feature Karl Ravech, John Kruk, Steve Phillips, Peter Gammons, Tim Kurkjian, Orestes Destrade and Eric Young re-enacting three memorable baseball moments -- last season's "Bugs" moment (Indians vs Yankees), Curt Schilling's bloody sock from 2004, and Bobby Thompson's "Shot heard 'round the world" from 1951.
I really hope that they try to get Eric Young a big role in these other two. I mean EY as Curt Schilling would actually be kind of funny. I'll try to put them up as I see them and we can critique then.

Update: Here's the first one if you haven't seen it....

I hope Steve Phillips is severely injured in production.

the bugs was pretty funny, considering the fact that Steve Phillips, Eric Young, and Karl Ravech were involved.

Must reenact Gary Thorne's stupendous insights during the opener in Tokyo. Or, how about the Mitchell Report congressional testimony. I can just see Eric Young as Dan Burton, "Rogur Clemenz iz... A TITAN!"

OMG, they're reeneacting "The Shot Heard 'Round The World". Blah! I suspect Chris Berman will be doing to voice-over over Russ Hodges/Red Barber too?

The bugs one is actually pretty funny. The fantasy baseball ones with the daytime soap were hilarious too.

One question I have for ESPN: if Steve Phillips is such an insightful and good GM, why hasn't he held a GM job since 2001?

Actually Chris Berman isn't in it..we shot it at Disney's Wide World of Sports the day after ESPN The Weekend...I got to spend some good time talking with the whole baseball tonight crew that day and they were all so and friendly, especially Eric Young.
