The LLWS Rap Featuring G-Thorne, Ravey, Dales And The Burger

Friday, August 22, 2008

I was really confused about the whole Jonas Brothers intro for the Little League World Series last week, but I have to say that the tune was kind of growing on me. That was until yesterday.

ESPN decided to rock out to the tune and splice in some lip-syncing/rapping from some of the network's brightest stars. I give you the ESPN Crew, Gary Thorne, Stacey Dales, Karl Ravech and THE Brent Musburger singing "Burning Up" by the Jonas Bros....REMIX!!!!!!

Good....God. I really have no idea where to start with this. First of all, it's one of those clips that is so terrible that it's actually pretty entertaining. I actually belly laughed when Musburger came on the screen. Second, the absolute best part of the whole thing is how pissed Karl Ravech looks during his spot. He did not appear to be having fun at all.

Sure it's ridiculously cheesy, and any thought of Gary Thorne dancing and/or saying "I'm Hot", makes me throw up in my mouth, but who cares? It's the Little League World Series. Those people in the truck and behind the scenes are usually working their asses off and probably rarely on camera. It's good they had a little fun with the whole thing. It's also much more PG than Orestes Destrade giving Pedro Gomez a massage while Pedro was sitting on his leg like "Santa Claus".

Now if you decide to do this for Monday Night Football....I might have a different response.

Really ESPN? The Jonas Brothers On The LLWS Intro??? (Awful Announcing)

I didn't think it was terrible. Audio appeared out of sync. But the people in the truck deserve some credit. The hours are long and they are shut inside for days on end. Let 'em have a little fun.

Great video. Another AA commentary way off base.

Excellent call. Stacey Dales is so underrated. It's a goofy video, but it fits the event. I have more of a problem with ESPN dedicating so much broadcast time to 12 year olds than I do this, which is pretty innocuous.

LLWS has been rocking it with the Jonas Brothers.
I can understand how the sports docker society might not understand the reason why the Jonas are attached. But whether you like it or not, Jonas are huge in pop music right now...and new kids are not only tuning into the LLWS, but they're checking out the LLWS Jonas too.

As far as the lip sync is concerned, rock on, it's awesome, and no one can do a "Yeah" like Brent.

and Dugout keeps it rockin'

Another idiot anonymous poster takes a combative tone with an argument no one is even making. Nice reading comprehension.

I agree with Kyle, don't know why it's necessary to have 12 yr olds on ESPN. Just show the US and international finals and the championship. But since August is a slow month guess they have to fill it up somehow.

Why does pop music have to be so... awful? Can't good music be popular?

For the critical Anon comment about "off base commentary."

He/She does have a point, it's hard to tell if AA liked it or not.

First paragraph...

"but I have to say that the tune was kind of growing on me. That was until yesterday."

So you don't like it?

But you do because you belly-laughed. (note: me too)

But then it's ridiculous and cheesy and Gary Thorne dancing makes you throw up in your mouth.

So, I understand the Anon comment about an off-base commentary. It's never clear whether AA likes it or not. So back and forth (like many posts). But...at least this one didn't have typos and grammer mistakes.
