Your MLB Announcing Schedule For The Weekend

Friday, August 15, 2008

A really interesting schedule for this weekend. The first amazing thing is that there's no Red Sox or Yankees for the first time since May 29th! I'm stoked for the Dodgers-Brewers game, but good lord there are some crappy teams on this schedule.

FOX is again tapping into the local broadcaster well and will use A's announcer, Glen Kuiper, for their game against the White Sox. Add to that no Buck and McCarver and some Jose Mota (pictured above) action to round it out. It should be an interesting weekend. Here's the schedule....

LA Angels at Cleveland Indians- Kenny Albert, Jose Mota (Fox, 3:55pm, 68%)

Albuquerque, Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Birmingham, Boston, Buffalo, Charlotte, Cleveland, Columbus, Dallas, Dayton, Denver, Fort Myers, Greensboro, Greenville, Hartford, Houston, Jacksonville, Knoxville, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Memphis, Miami, Nashville, New Orleans, New York, Norfolk, Oklahoma City, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Providence, Raleigh, Richmond, Salt Lake City, San Antonio, San Diego, Tampa, Tulsa, Washington, West Palm Beach

Chicago White Sox at Oakland Athletics- Glen Kuiper & Leo Mazzone (FOX, 3:55pm, 24%)

MARKETS INCLUDE: Chicago, Cincinnati, Detroit, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Louisville, Milwaukee, Orlando, Sacramento, San Francisco, St. Louis

Seattle Mariners at Minnesota Twins- Dick Stockton & Mark Grace (FOX, 3:55pm, 7%)

MARKETS INCLUDE: Minneapolis, Portland, Seattle

Milwaukee Brewers at Los Angeles Dodgers- Chip Caray & Ron Darling (TBS, 4pm)
Philadelphia Phillies at San Diego Padres- Jon Miller and Joe Morgan (ESPN, 8pm)

When did Jose Mota turn into Warren Moon?

I may tune into some Angles-Indians just to say what alien language Mota is using this week.

So, how many easy monthly payments of $29.95 is the Jose Mota Pan Set?

Fox has run up the white flag opposite the tape-delayed Olympics.

The TBS game is at 4 PM ET -- they don't play morning games in L.A.

I can't believe Glen Kuiper was selected to do a game. I'm a big A's fan and I must say he may be the most boring announcer I have ever heard.

How did Fox score an all AFC preseason match-up?

Glenn Kuiper took some "we" and "our" lessons from Hawk Harrelson before he called the A's game on the Fox broadcast. On ESPN Radio, Dave Campbell, it's Paul "Konerko," not Paul "Federko."
