CBS And FOX Start A War Of The Press Releases

Thursday, November 08, 2007

Not that this is interesting in any way, shape, or form to you....but I found it funny. Both FOX and CBS issued press releases surrounding their NFL coverage today and both took shots at each other.

FOX's release came first and it's title is obviously a joke on CBS' previous release calling the Pats-Colts game Super Bowl XLI 1/2.....

"Super Bowl XLI¾” – Cowboys-Giants

Too funny, but I think CBS has won the war with the following line buried in their latest release....

"Note for scheduling purposes: the real date of Super Bowl XLII is January 20th. The confusion may come because it is also being referred to as the "AFC Championship Game." Go figure."

Dagger! Take that FOX!!!

CBS also released their Week 11 Announcing pairings in the release, so here they are....

1:00 PM, ET starts:

Cleveland @ Baltimore - Ian Eagle/Solomon Wilcots
Kansas City @ Indianapolis - Gus Johnson/Steve Tasker
Oakland @ Minnesota - Dick Enberg/Randy Cross
Miami @ Philadelphia - Kevin Harlan/Rich Gannon
San Diego @ Jacksonville - Greg Gumbel/Dan Dierdorf

4:05 PM, ET starts:

Pittsburgh @ N.Y. Jets - Jim Nantz/Phil Simms

Great Gus and Steve doing the Chiefs game. Time to listen to Mitch and Len on the radio.

My Time-Warner cable provider doesn't carry Fox. I missed the frickin' World Series and half of football season.

Yep. Nantz and Simms will go to New York to cover the 1-and-whatever Jets. Just because it's New Freaking York.

First place K.C. playing first place Indy? Screw it! First place San Diego against 5-3 Jacksonville? Who cares?

THE JETS ARE PLAYING!

Taking a page out of the Fox playbook.

Thanks, AA, for baiting me.

Man, Gus is going to bust a nut over Peyton.

I bet the sound guys hate working with him...

Assignments seem so backwards that I cannot help but laugh. CBS does know they are supposed to feature the best games, right?

It is comical...I think someone must have lost a bet to Dan Dierdorf.

What the hell? I had hoped that by playing the damn Jets, the Steelers wouldn't have Simms. I think they're doing this just to piss me off.

The Jets in the featured game??? Hello, friends.

No doubt Simms-Nantz are doing the Jets-Steelers because it's the only time they'll see the Steelers live before the AFC Championship Game preview on Dec. 9, PIT @ NE.

But they are doing the Steelers this week, so I doubt that is the reason.

The only rationale Hello Friends and Simms are doing that pathetic game is because both live in the New York area and they have the short week with them doing the Jets-Cowboys game on Thanksgiving. Need to rest up as much as possible since it's a road game for them.

Damn... Listening to EEEan I-gle for the Ravens game today... I wouldn't even have that much of a problem with him if he'd stop calling himself "I an eagle."
