Hard Knocks' Producer Talks Pacman, T.O. And Jessica

Wednesday, August 06, 2008

I know there have been a ton of posts here on the season debut of Hard Knocks, but I seriously can't get enough of the show. I'm still really interested to see what angle they ultimately take with the program, but here director Rob Gehring tries to answer that and some of the other questions about the show....

It's going to be a good time, and get this....Actor Liev Schrieber is back on narrator duty! I'll have more on the first episode and highlights tomorrow. Oh and Patrick Crayton, you really need to stop talking. Calling Green Bay's situation a soap opera? Pot meet kettle.

I'm looking forward to seeing for myself how stupid Wade Phillips is. He might not be Herm stupid, but he's definitely not right.

Dallas is far less of a soap opera than Green Bay. Sure, America's Team has a cast of high-profile characters from the owner on down to the second string, but the franchise has been that way longer than this 24 year-old Texan has been alive. There's no "As the World Turns" element here in Texas like there is with Favre in Green Bay. By and large, a lot of the drama centered around the Cowboys the last two years has been because the media decided to make it a drama (e.g. their fascination with T.O's every movement), not because a player decided to make himself the focal point of an entire franchise and 95% of American sports media.

Good point James, but it's still a different kind of soap opera.....just a different kind of one. The whole Mexico thing last year combined with the trade for Pacman alone is enough to qualify it as one.

They're looking better to start this year because GB looks like ass, but there's blowup potential at any minute.
