Update: The Big Lead responds: Do it Again and the Kitten Dies

Update #2: We thank The Big Lead for mentioning us in their "self-interview" as a place that has a list of all the blogs that commented on the Cowherd thing. Please feel free to keep sending your links to awfulannouncing@gmail.com and we'll be sure to add you to the fray.

In all seriousness....it's great to have TBL back, and thanks for letting myself (AA), OMDQ...who put this kick-ass list together, and The Rest of the Channel 4 News Team to be a part of this amazing Sports Blogging Community. You continue to amaze me everday, and let's beat the powers that be at their own game. <grouphug></grouphug>.

Yeah, you don't even have to ask, AA crew. I'm on board for Colin's raping, too.

Oh, and I got an email from the Ombudsman's staff.

From Le Anne Schreiber: Rest assured, I will have something to say about the shutdown of thebiglead.com in my column next week.

Thanks.

I'm kind of like Garrett Anderson on this one. I could write about Colin, but I'm just not one to jump on an (incredibly important) bandwagon.

Seriously, though. I'm not sure what I could say that hasn't been said better by all of you. I love it when we all prove we're a community that looks out for one another.

doom you think they are going to rehire a pervert. Yeah, don't you think they have enough.

ESPN has lost a ton of respect from me, not only should they fire him, they should put him in jail for being an idiot.

What this all really proves, based largely on the mis-spelled, profanity-ridden, hate-filled invectives I have seen published on most of these pages, is that Colin Cowherd is right about the vast majority of you bloggers. Move out of your mom's basements, and get lives and real jobs.

Hey Mookie,

What about when Leitch sent out all of his minons to destroy the ESPN converstation. They were not even commenting about the articles, but just posting stuff about nothing. They had to close that down.

So where was that outrage?

Anonymous said...

Couple of things Anon....first, the ESPN conversation thing did not harm their money making ability. The Big Lead makes a good chunk in advertising, and that was taken away for a day.

Second....the basement joke is so old and was never funny.

Why don't you come out from behind your Anonymous shield and tell us who you really are?

That's right...you're afraid. Afraid of us Bloggers in our underwear and of our expletives.

Apr 7, 2007, 3:56:00 PM

Afraid? Yes. You caught me. I am terrified. So...choosing a false, untraceable identity as you have done means I no longer have the "shield" of anonymity? Right...got it...

Anonymous said...

First of all I am not the one who said about parents basement. I respect bloggers who can put a sentence without cursing and who can give it as well as dish it. Who not only want respect but give it.

99% of bloggers are smart, funny, and are great people.

So you are saying it is okay to destroy something as long as you don't like it and it doesn't cost them money. Maybe it did because what if someone wanted to post and couldn't so they did not purcahse insder privilages.

Or what about when they interuppt the chatting sessions with BS and it has to get closed. So that is okay, as long as you don't like them. Is that not what Colin did?

You guys can destroy whatever you want as long as you don't like it and get a hard on or get wet from it. Isn't that why Colin did what he did to get a hard on.

Colin should be punished because what he did was wrong. I read TBL and like them because they take it serious and are not hypocrites. They do not get involved in destroying someone's else converstation. Because they have respect and integrity.

What if this would have happened to Can't Stop the Bleeding, would you have been this pissed or would have laughed at it with your leader.

Okay guys....let's look at this seriously. What exactly was destroyed by the ESPN commenting fiasco?

Nothing. ESPN could have, and in my opinion, just kept the comments up. Anonymous people say stupid s*** on this site all the time. Do I ever just erase them? No, and I won't ever. Everyone has a voice and an opinion. What do I care if you don't like this site. There are thousands who do.

Anon- And what is this crap about false identity? I have my name and email address everywhere on this site. I've been on TV and the radio with my real name. What are you trying to say...I'm confused?

Braves Fan- Of course we would feel the same way if it happened to CSTB. Cowherd stole from MGOBlog and everyone noted it....Scoop Jackson stole from YAY Sports and we noted it.

I don't really see what that has to do with anything.

Apr 7, 2007, 4:33:00 PM

So is it okay to destroy something or mess it up? That is what happened because one person suggested it.

Dr. Doom said it we destroyed and shut down ESPN converstation. Everyone is entitled to their opnion and it should be heard. But shutting something down because you feel like doing it is not okay.

Anonymous said...
Apr 7, 2007, 4:46:00 PM

No, I'm not saying that at all. Dr. Doom misspoke because Deadspinners didn't "shut" anything down. ESPN was embarrassed so they took it down. So I'm not sure how that "destroyed" anything.

Neither is right, and the Deadspin thing was a bit ridiculous. But in the end Cowherd directly impacted someone's job, and rendered the owners unemployed for about 4 days and running.

ESPN will live on....even if 100 hipster kids post comments on Page 2.

Pretty huge discrepancy there. That's all I'm saying.

Apr 7, 2007, 4:53:00 PM

When you have to shut anything down for a little bit of time. It is wrong.

Hipsters, I wish people would stop that. Bloggers are smart and know what they are doing and what type of impact they have.

You are pretty brave to call out what Deadspin even a little bit. You are more brave than others.

Thank you for a great blog and a great converstation. You are part of that 99% great blogs.

Thanks Braves Fan, and points well taken.

I was wrong on the deadspin thing. And i think that i used the wrong words. What i meant to say is that since espn noticed that if we boycotted they could notice. Not that we should destroy espn. And actually in a strange way, the comments thing was good for espn.com because more people saw there ads.
