Monday Night Football Team To Be Annoying At The Draft Too!

Monday, April 09, 2007

When I see these tidbits....they usually don't upset me the way they used to. Well this one got my skin crawling.....

ESPN will announce today that the new Monday Night Football team of Ron Jaworski, Tony Kornheiser and Mike Tirico will work together for the first time during coverage of the NFL draft April 28-29, spokesman Bill Hofheimer says.
Ugh. Here's how I imagine the draft going.....

Tirico: So Russell goes first to the Raiders, and you have to like that move. You need a quarterback you get a quarterback.

Jaws: You're so right Mike....here's the breakdown on Jamarcus......

A quarterback is a position in American and Canadian football. Quarterbacks are members of the offensive team and line up directly behind the center, in the middle of the offensive line. A quarterback is usually the leader of the offensive team, and initiates most plays. In addition, the quarterback is responsible for calling the signals before most plays. The term quarterback has its origin in Scottish Rugby, wherein backfield players, according to their customary distance behind the forwards, were designated "quarter back" (i.e. ¼ of the way back), "half back", and "full back". Eventually in rugby the English-Irish nomenclature prevailed, with halfback, three-quarters back, and fullback; in some places, notably New Zealand, the term "five-eighths back" is used as well.

Tony K: (Reading from a piece of paper) Now what I want to know is why it's called a QUARTERback. What does my ESPN salary have to do with this? (No one laughs) Umm, well Russell has the accuracy of a Patriot Missle. (crickets) Okay that was probably too 1990s right?

Can someone please draft Calvin Johnson because I have some great Calvin and Hobbs jokes. What? He's dropped in the draft???

Wilbon? Are you there???......No? Okay I'll just be quiet until Spaceman Spiff is selected.

Maybe its just me but this seems obvious, Why not put the college gameday crew, along w/ maybe Mel Kiper on the NFL Draft? The MNF crew doesn't know the first thing about these guys that are being drafted

Draft day commentary is always kind of useless filler though. It doesn't really matter who is doing the talking.

Think of the exposition and description of the game ikf we were somehow able to have both Jaws and Joe Morgan on the same announcing team.

Kornheiser should be scrubbing urinals in Times Square. He has no talent.

I swear to God, if the dude wasn't pursued by the Redskins, and he didn't play at Binghamton, Tony K won't know him from Adam,

Tony K. is INCREDIBLY annoying, and he detracts from everyone's enjoyment of the game. Does anyone remember this...during the beginning of the '06 season he actually complained about having to stay up too late to call the game. WHAT!?! GET OFF OF MY T.V.! You have one of the most sought after sportscasting jobs in the world.
