Find The Typo: The Virginian Edition
Sunday, November 11, 2007
Had this forwarded to me by The Sabre Blog who was none to happy with ESPN's coverage of the last game at the Orange Bowl last night. If you're a Virginia fan, hearing Mark Jones call you the "Hokies"....you might be a little upset.
But wait....there's more! Can you find the typo in photo from this ESPN recap of the game? (Click for larger version)
At one point on ESPN.com they had this game listed as an "Upset Watch" at the top of the scoreboard page as well. ESPN.com is just useless at this point (more to come later).

Maybe the author of that post on The Sabre Blog was so livid, he/she forgot to proofread before hitting enter, but the Hoos are not 8-3, but 9-2. Semantics, I know, but ya gotta practice what ya preach, right?

Another typo.
Bruce, I think he meant that the announcers said Virginia was 8-3, which was yet another mistake by the crew. Lucky for me, I listened to the Miami announcers on XM. They spent most of the night ripping into the Hurricanes' performance.
@pfhite- ah, ok. My apologies to the author, then. :-)
Oh, not only was it listen on the Upset Watch, it was listed there when UVa was up 31-0 and virtually every other ranked team was either tied, or winning by less then 7.
Ah yes, the "UPSET WATCH" rears its ugly head yet again. Miami-Texas A&M, Virginia-Wake Forest (ranked 23 & 24), and now this...why do I have a feeling that UConn-Cincinnati was up there earlier in the afternoon...
Miami was favored in the game so it actually was an upset.
The sad thing is this same crew might call the Virginia Tech-Virginia game (which is kind of a big deal now considering its for the Coastal division title). Its a joke and there should be an apology/explanation for this embarrassing coveage
