Mike Tirico Does Not Care About Your Stupid "Going Green" Gimmicks, NBC

Monday, November 05, 2007

Monday Night Football is just the gift that keeps on giving. What happens when you stay up until midnight during a blowout? Mike Tirico talking trash about NBC's Going Green initiative from Sunday Night Football.....

I know that NBC "Green" night was a little bit ridiculous, but joking about it on National Television is a little petty. Pretty classless on Mike Tirico's part if you ask me.

UPDATE: Someone just reminded me that about 4 different times that the MNF Team said that Ben Roethlisberger won the Super Bowl in his rookie year. This is just piling on, but that's obviously completely wrong. Just add it to the laundry list of mistakes.

So Did You Turn Off Any Lights Last Night When Bob Costas Told You To? (Awful Announcing)

I personally thought it was a bit funny. Nothing claseless.

I thought it was funny too. If anything was classless it was NBC pushing their agenda on us through Sunday Night Football.

Uh oh, Mike Tirico, get ready for EPA to get all over your ass!

NBC going "green" was a little(ok, a lot) overboard, but be that as it may, Tirico's shot was over the line. I've always thought he was a bit of a prick, and after 2 months of his radio self-lovefest and this thing, I feel validated in my opinion.

I get the "clean" feed of Monday Night Football (don't ask). I wish I had been listening to the game that late. I had already switched over to the CBS shows.

Normally they just bitch about Jim Rome and the "stupid" viewer emails.

But overall, on a night when they pissed on the national anthem, this doesn't really make me that upset.

If they come after him, he can get advice from Wilbon and his dealings with the PETA people.

I'm with the above commenters. A lot of dumb/classless things have been said on NFL broadcasts in the last few years, but I don't think this falls in that category. Just two guys goofing on something that badly needed it.

Mike Tirico does not care about the poor people with no energy. He's MIKE FUCKING TIRICO and he gobbles energy before every telecast.

Mike seems to be conserving hair stands on his head!

hmm, Boomer ripped into ESPN hard at least twice during the radio broadcast.

I would feel like it was a little classless if NBC took the thing seriously at all. And by take it serious, I mean shut off the giant "Toyota halftime show" lights.

Go green unless it's going to cost us money, that's a great message to send.

That was hilarious, Mike Tirico is a baller. NBC was dumb for doing that, it was over the top and stupid. This makes me love Tirico, that was sweet. I agree with anon, why you gotta go all Joe Buck on us.

Whats classless is the liberal pukes at NBC shoving that crap down our throats Sunday night with the NFL being complicit.
AA, please tell me you're not one of "THEM"???

Come on...Tirico made a joke, it was funny, green night is ridiculous...what's the big deal?

I said "a little classless" which it was. Not for ragging on their lights out broadcast, but for calling them out on National TV.

The Green thing was a joke, and completely for publicity, but to make fun of them during a national broadcast isn't necessary. Whether it's true or not.

If someone had done this to ESPN, you would have been applauding them. Yet, when ESPN does it, and it was funny, it's pretty classless. Don't straddle the fence.

No, it was not classless. What, poor little NBC can't take some criticism. Grow a pair Ebersol, and stop this crap you put on the air every Sunday.
I repeat, Mike Tirico IS A BALLER.

Show me where I haven't gotten on every other Network Anon. Please read the rest of the site before you make baseless arguments.

It's not my fault ESPN carries more of the games. And didn't we all trash the NBC "Green" thing yesterday? Come on...stop drinking the Kool-Aid up there in Bristol my friend.

Mike Tirico a baller? I guess when it comes to sexual harassment in the workplace he is

While it was funny, ESPN has no right to criticize when they produce such a terrible product every week. ESPN is more concerned about telling you that Monday Night Football is on ESPN than delivering a game.

btw, has it been discussed how AWFUL these MNF promos are, where they say something like "Remember that Monday Night game in 1993, when this happened, and this happened... and then your wife kissed her co-worker." Whaaa?

Tirico's a joke. Both ESPN and NBC's football productions are awful right now.

Having said that, I do give NBC credit for trying to put this message out there, even if they did look a little silly with the lights out in the studio.

over the line? classless?

- C'mon, it was a harmless joke. Does everything have to be so PC!?

Tirico once pounded Hulk fists with Joel Siegel during the NBA Finals. Obviously he's one to criticize idiotic promotions.

Why is it when something liberal appears on TV people start talking about getting things "shoved down our throats?" What was shoved down your throats? No one is asking you to believe in global warming or environmental actions. They didn't shut off cable access for those who think Al Gore is full of it. Hearing about "green" practices is like being tortured, but hearing 9000 times about the "Who's Now" vote or "When Animals Attack" is perfectly fine?

huffy henry - I dont think anyone is mad about the message of global warming, per se. I think it's more about the ridiculousness of the way they did it, with the dimming of the lights and all.

Mikey Tirico is a frickin BALLER. B-A-L-L-E-R. He do what he want, rip who he want and there aint a damn thing them weak little liberal losers at NBC can do about it.

AA-If you are saying in one of your responses that the "green thing" on NBC is a joke you are wrong. It is a corporate mandate for each program currently running. It is NOT a joke.

Tirico is buddies with Bob Costas. He's not actually slamming NBC, just making a little joke. Besides, in a 38 - 7 games... Not too much else to talk about

Since you wanna get all technical on what you said, so will I. You actually called it 'pretty classless' not 'a little classless'. Might as well have said 'THAT'S DISGUSTING.....I'M SORRY YOU HAD TO HEAR THAT'
