Chad Johnson Has Officially Lost It, Challenges Michael Phelps

Thursday, August 14, 2008

I know I promised less Ocho Cinco on the site, but the guy sure knows how to get my attention. In this brief interview Chad talks first about how if he has problems with Carson Palmer he just beats him up (Palmer goes for the headlock), but the real fun is at the end. Listen as Chad claims to know some people who could take down Phelps in the water, and yes....85 is one of them....

Don't laugh! Stop laughing at Chad! Chad swam in Middle School and will beat your Champion, America!!! In all honesty the guy is about 99% annoying at this point, but lately that 1% is coming out. Also, does ESPN just interview him everyday now? It really wouldn't surprise me.

I thought this was the last place I could go that wouldn't give Chad the time of day but I guess I was wrong. AA, your Olympic posts have been brilliant, no need to clog your site with fluff (unless you're beta testing a TMZsports site). Eagerly awaiting your post-Olympic reviews of NBC announce teams and hosts.

Understandable and I urge you to just skip these (I wouldn't blame you). It happened late last night, so I thought I would add first thing in the morning.

It's kind of funny that he thinks making it in swimming is anything comparable to football. You don't make it in football because you had bad grades or you couldn't stay on the team because of behavior issues... swimming is PURELY individual. If you do anything in the sport, it's because you are an amazing athlete. If you're a good swimmer, the man can't keep you down. Anybody can compete at any level- all you have to do is qualify.

I guess most people don't get Chad. He's just messing with everybody, all the time. The joke is on the people who get upset about what he says...

(BTW, AA, you made another "everyday" error. Embrace the space!)

I know Ocho Cinco isn't a social scholar, but what I believe he was referring to was that because swimming is one of those "country club" sports only the well-off have access to swimming facilities and training. Just like tennis stars usually come from wealthier families. Chad mentions that he used to swim in a city league and perhaps if he could have stuck with it we would be talking about him being the greatest Olympian of all time. Or perhaps he was more enticed by the stardom of the gridiron. The world's best swimmers do come from first world countries, unlike track and field.

That being said, Chad Johnson needs to be in a Cowboys uniform.
