NFL Open Thread - Week 13 Late Games

Sunday, November 30, 2008

What we've seen from the first slate so far:

  • The Giants still look dominant, picking off Jason Campbell multiple times and handicapping the Redskins' offense. 23-7 in the 4th.
  • Indy finishes off Cleveland in a game without an offensive touchdown. The difference came when Dwight Freeney sacked Derek Anderson, causing a fumble which Robert Mathis picked up and ran in for a score.
  • Carolina and Green Bay are now tied at 28, after the Pack made a nice comeback to take the lead. Pack driving with 8:30 or so left.
  • 20-all tie between the Saints and Bucs in Tampa. Drew Brees has thrown for two scores, Garcia for one. 4 minutes to go and Tampa's driving.
  • Miami is only up 4 on St. Louis but has the ball with about 2 minutes left to go. Ronnie Brown has the only touchdown of the game.
  • A Shaun Hill to Isaac Bruce hook-up is the only end zone action in Toronto today, as the 49ers visit the Bills and have the ball with about 3 minutes to go. Buffalo has not helped itself with a failed 4th down conversion and a missed FG. 10-3, SF.
  • The Ravens are destroying the Bengals right now. 27-3 after two TD passes from Joe Flacco and a third by wideout Mark Clayton to Derrick Mason.
Now, your late games. I'm stuck with the cripple fight that is KC/Oakland. Kill me now.

@S2N, I am also stuck with the crapfest known as Chiefs-Raiders. Probably a good time to do the Christmas shopping.

You wished there was a blackout on the Chefs-raiders clusterfuck festival?

49er16 - might as well catch up on some posts.

Oh, and the Niners just because the first West Coast team to win a game traveling east and playing at 10 AM Pacific.

I'm not sure whom that reflects worse on: the Bills or both Western divisions of the NFL.

James - it will be unintentional comedy, and that's the best I can say for it.

Yes, I wish it was blacked out, because then I'd get to watch the Broncos, even though they're probably going to get destroyed by Favraro.

Game over in Green Bay.

I've seen Brett Favre, I've known Brett Favre, and Aaron Rodgers is no Brett Favre when it comes to comebacks.

Oh, fuck. I'm slowly becoming Tony Kornhole with his mancrush.

@ S2N, it reflects worse on both the Bills and the western teams.

You had to put his picture up, didn't you, S2N! that's why i was acting like Kornhole...

Stare into the eyes of SuperFavre....

There is one difference between the Raiders earlier and the Raiders now: it looks like the adjustment to the pro game is starting to click for JaMarcus Russell.

Or it could be that he's playing the Chiefs. But you have to start somewhere.

Anybody know if AA will be selling those Christmas coffee mugs this year?

Oakland tried to fake a FG. Shane Lechler took the snap and tried to flip it to Janikowski.

Of course, the flip was nowhere near close, and K.C. returned the fumble for a touchdown.

Buncha knuckleheads.

This Broncos/Jets game is weird.

Controversial fumble for a TD by Denver.

Then Thomas Jones scores on a 59 yard run.

Then Eddie Royal just stays in bounds and has a 59 yard TD catch.

FG so it's 17-7.

Then Thomas Jones falls on a Broncos player, his shoulder doesn't touch the ground nor does his knee, he gets back up and gets a touchdown while the Broncos stand there thinking he is down.

Wild and weird.

matt was talking about nischelle having larengitis. Jp chimed in she sounds like a smoker. After a long pause Matt says nischelle is not a smoker. Pretty funny stuff.

anon - that had to be awkward.

Jesus, it's only halftime in Oakland. I am now this much closer to telling my cable company to go pound sand and signing up for DirecTV next season.

@Diana 4:38

I believe they go on sale December 10. E-mail AA to make sure that is correct.

NE had a weird end to its first half. With the ball inside the red zone, Moss flat-out dropped two TD passes, Cassell's pass on third down was almost picked off in the end zone, and then the Pats miss the 27-yd chippie to end the half, somehow keeping the game tied. I just wonder what the hoodied one had to say in the locker room--and if anyone got decapitated as a result.

The Pats are committing suicide with these TOs.

And the Broncos have a TD called back and Cutler throws an INT in the end zone. Do they not want to WIN this?

Joe - AA will probably get to it as soon as he can. I'd do it but I don't have access to the polling data (or have the slightest idea how it works.)

Today was the biggest choke job New England has had in a number of years.

I really want to know what Moss is going to say after the game, because his two dropped TD passes at the end of the first half (not to mention the missed chippie FG) were crucial to the Pats' collapse in the second half.
