NFL Open Thread - Week 11 Early Games

Proof Old Bay seasoning cannot make everything out of Baltimore better. (I kid, Marylanders, I kid. I've been to the area. I don't think it's horrific.)

Sorry about yesterday and having to bail on you. It looks like you all do well on your own and with AA.

Am I the only one not particularly thrilled by the slate of games this week? I mean, even Chicago vs. Green Bay feels, well, blah. Unfortunately, the end of bye weeks means I'll be trying to pirate the Denver/Atlanta game because both the Raiders and 49ers are in action in my part of the world.

Here's Your Week 11 schedule, and let's go for it.

CBS:

Baltimore at New York Giants - Greg Gumbel, Dan Dierdorf
Denver at Atlanta - Kevin Harlan, Rich Gannon
Houston at Indianapolis - Gus Johnson, Steve Tasker
Oakland at Miami - Ian Eagle, Solomon Wilcots

Fox:

Chicago at Green Bay - Joe Buck, Troy Aikman, Pam Oliver
Philadelphia at Cincinnati - Kenny Albert, Daryl Johnston, Tony Siragusa
Minnesota at Tampa Bay - Sam Rosen, Tim Ryan, Chris Meyers
New Orleans at Kansas City - Thom Brennaman, Brian Billick
Detroit at Carolina - Ron Pitts, Tony Boselli, Charissa Thompson

I'd rather see Brennaman-Billick do Eagles-Bungles then Albert-Moose-Goose...

Anyone have to listen to a game called by Sam Rosen before? Does he always sounds so drunk?

Forgot To put Detroit/Carolina on the list of FOX games.

Although one could argue that the Lions are an NFL team.

Anon - fixing....and I will gladly make that argument against the Lions being an NFL team.

New York based announcers always sound drunk fo no reason whatsoever, Jesse.

Anyone catch the Fox pregame where they were talking about Terry Bradshaw's horse? The smartass writers made a fact that the contest terry was in with his quarterhorse had a talent competition, and they showed Bradshaw's singing on the old 1970's country music show "Pop Goes the Country" which now airs on RFD TV.

Also "If you're getting the Rams-Cardinals game, stay away from sharp objects."

The same as Rick James Bible Owner will tell you for any Lions games for the rest of the season.

Great way to start the day having to see hypocrite Raven fans.

and CBS moving Jags / Titans to 4:00 sucks, that would have been a good start to a doubleheader.

That makes sense, James. It makes things a little better, at least, with what promises to be a terrible duo of commentators when one of them is drunk.

Ted Ginn just broke three tackles on an end-around to get in the end zone against the Raiders.

That wasn't so much Ginn being good as the Raiders sucking shit.

Um, jg, this is the first of the flex weeks.

JamesCraven said...

Ever wonder why the Bungles are the worst franchise in football? They're wearing those all-black fugly uniforms. So Harry High School.

JamesCraven said...
Nov 16, 2008, 1:21:00 PM

I know its the first of the flex weeks but they didnt move Steelers / Chargers to 1 to make Titans / Jags showcase game. I guess CBS was trying to save travel costs.

Anonymous said...
Nov 16, 2008, 1:26:00 PM

It's not travel costs, jg. It's the fact the Titans are 9-0...

For the record, the Beagles have one total yard of offense.

Is www.FireAndyReid.com available yet?

JamesCraven said...
Nov 16, 2008, 1:35:00 PM

Six total yards after one quarter. Maybe Billick should send his resume to the Eagles ASAP.

JamesCraven said...
Nov 16, 2008, 1:42:00 PM

Moving a game from 1:00 to 4:00 shouldn't count as a flex. Those time changes have always been done.

Moving a game from 1:00 or 4:00 to primetime on NBC, that's a flex.

The Giants are literally manhandling the Ravens.

Nov 16, 2008, 2:03:00 PM

Well anon 1:49 PM, the Titans-Jags counts as a flex in the context of the schedule.

Is it possible that Tyler Thigpen is the QB of the future for KC? *Knock on wood*

Well, S2N, the only reason the 49ers are on in your area is because like lemmings toward the cliff's edge mostly because as 49er16 will tell you, the York family sucks worse then Mike Brown's family, they always sell their games out.

JamesCraven said...

Could it be possible that the Chefs drew straws on their quarterbacks, corbin?

JamesCraven said...
Nov 16, 2008, 2:21:00 PM

Corbin - Herm Edwards will find a way to fuck him up. If not him, then Chan Gailey will.

James - I don't even want to think about it.

This Oakland-Miami game has been atrocious. I'm going on a beer run.

Signal to Noise said...
Nov 16, 2008, 2:24:00 PM

And corbin, I don't see Len Dawson walking through that door. I don't see Mike Livingston walking through that door, and I sure as hell don't see Joe Montana walking through that door, either.

Sign at Iggles/Bungles:

"dear Santa

Can we move to the NFC West ?

Thanks, Andy Reid"

They just showed two shirtless fans in the stands and then put up a graphic saying "Kenny Albert Darryl Johnston"

James - don't be a jinx, dude.

I know he's not running much and he's a fullback, but I heart Peyton Hillis right now -- at least before the defense falls apart again.

Well, jamescraven, it's not really a flex. Just a time change.

Ian Eagle on OAK-MIA just now:

"They have to not eat the cheese ... drink the kool-aid ... not eat the cheese and then wash it down with the kool-aid."

An awfully stupid remark as it is, but +3 for bonus historical and geographical relevance.

The Lions pull within 2 points with a TD with 6 minutes left, and Ron Pitts has to ask if they should go for 2.

CBS just switched me to Denver / Atlanta. although seeing the Ravens get hammered was enjoyable.

Another reason to fire Brad Childress: 4th and 2 near their own 25, 3 minutes left, with 2 timeouts...and they go for it.

God, it's nice to get a win and a defensive stop.
