This is a good list. I'm almost ready to say that the Gold Glove voters have started to actually look at DEFENSE and ignore hitting/popularity/past performances.

Definitely no name that is out there like a sore thumb like McLouth though I have a hard time believing that Michael Young was the best SS in baseball defensively. Orlando Cabrera? Yuniesky Betancourt? Bueller?

The GG lost all credibility the year Rafael Palmeiro won one while playing just 26 games at first base the entire season.

I like Ichiro but if you were looking at the total package: Defense and Offense, Nick Markakis of the Orioles just about had better numbers than Suzuki. I think Nick was 1st or 2nd in outfield assists.

Erik, you're right. I momentarily forgot that I was thinking all year that Markakis deserved a gold glove. He was absolutely amazing at digging balls out of the RF corner and nailing runners at 2B.

I wouldn't take the GG away from Ichiro, though. Hunter and Sizemore are awesome, too. Tough call.

difference:

you CONSIDER running on Markakis

you NEVER run on Ichiro
