NFL Playoffs Open Thread: Seahawks @ Packers

Saturday, January 12, 2008

Like it says above. Leave the worst of the announcing team in comments, and OMDQ will be here for Jags-Patriots after this one. Oh, and the picture is from the last time these teams met in the playoffs, when Al Harris made Matt Hasselbeck eat his "We'll take the ball and we're gonna score!"

Over/under for Favre Fellating by announcers: 15.

91 Comments:

Well, that was a bit of a disaster.

Johnstone is way too hyped up, over analyzing already.

When these announcers come up for air-let me know--they will not shut up!

Thankfully-"Moose" told us it's still early!?

Moose is on speed-he is killing the broadcast

And here comes the Favre-fellating

Anonymous said...
Jan 12, 2008, 5:00:00 PM

rabble rabble rabble.

I think Kenny, Moose, and Goose could use a lesson in non-verbal communication.

Signal to Noise said...
Jan 12, 2008, 5:03:00 PM

Y'know, I wish I could mute it, but the crowd is just plain too loud for me to watch this in silence.

Boy, look at that snow come down...

RandomRanting said...
Jan 12, 2008, 5:04:00 PM

2 plays in a row completely wrong. Siragussa saying Hasselback threw it away when it was just a wrong route by the WR, and Johnstone saying Hasselbacks progress was stopped when he was actually still good and then sacked afterwards. These guys are so horrible, couldn't they find anyone else???

Anonymous said...
Jan 12, 2008, 5:07:00 PM

I can't stand that snotty little bitch in the Caravan commercial. Ewww!!

Perfect game to start new invention-"announcer mute only".This is BRUTAL!

kel said...
Jan 12, 2008, 5:10:00 PM

I like how they said the refs were right, then said Favre is right. Bandwagon much?

RandomRanting said...
Jan 12, 2008, 5:13:00 PM

And, for the record, can someone, anyone please note "If GB loses this challenge, they'll only have 1 time out left."

RandomRanting said...
Jan 12, 2008, 5:15:00 PM

Exactly random--that was a terrible spot-the ref pulled the ball back

kel said...
Jan 12, 2008, 5:16:00 PM

"[Favre threw to] 4 different receivers on this play." That seems a little illegal, doesn't it?

RandomRanting said...
Jan 12, 2008, 5:16:00 PM

"Homefield advantage"?-they had to use a challenge to get 2 feet on the spot ?!

kel said...
Jan 12, 2008, 5:18:00 PM

"That was a great move by Brett Favre to lobby for the challenge!" - Moose

SLURP SLURP SLURP.

Make sure to give him a tickle, too.

Signal to Noise said...
Jan 12, 2008, 5:18:00 PM

Somewhere, a Fox executive is sighing in relief that the Packers are making a game of this.

And seriously, I love Favre, but he wasn't telling McCarthy anything the guys upstairs weren't saying.

RandomRanting said...
Jan 12, 2008, 5:21:00 PM

Excellent point by Siragussa to always follow the full back on a running play (snicker)

Anonymous said...
Jan 12, 2008, 5:24:00 PM

Siragusa has literally given me a headache-I'm surpirised they didn't credit Favre for the block on the TD

kel said...
Jan 12, 2008, 5:24:00 PM

59 penalties this SEASON? That's unbelievable.

RandomRanting said...
Jan 12, 2008, 5:25:00 PM

No, Siragussa gave credit even before the XP to the fullback who didnt block anyone until Grant was across the line, but Johnstone ignores the replay to support Siragussa's wrong analysis...typical poor announcing.

Anonymous said...
Jan 12, 2008, 5:27:00 PM

Ithought it was just me-number 30 was stsnding around on that td--moose and goose luv each other

kel said...
Jan 12, 2008, 5:32:00 PM

Remember kids....Brett Favre is the coach of this team, not Mike McCarthy.

21-14....let the blowout commence.

Anonymous said...
Jan 12, 2008, 5:33:00 PM

Right Kel, Siragussa thought he had a great point and the replay showed he didnt, but Moose ignores the replay and the intelligence of the viewer and supports the announcer. Just poor.

Anonymous said...
Jan 12, 2008, 5:33:00 PM

I may have to verbally fellate Brett Favre myself. That TD throw was gorgeous.

Signal to Noise said...
Jan 12, 2008, 5:36:00 PM

Thats just fine, S2N. That throw WAS gorgeous. Unlike that last snap. Seahawks look shell shocked.

RandomRanting said...
Jan 12, 2008, 5:39:00 PM

And THAT is why I hate kicker rules. Its almost impossible to block kicks given the likelihood of being called for cheapie penalties.

RandomRanting said...
Jan 12, 2008, 5:40:00 PM

randomranting - both rules regarding late hits on the QB and the kicker have been enforced to an absurd degree.

Signal to Noise said...
Jan 12, 2008, 5:42:00 PM

Well now the cheering will get worse in the booth for the Packers. Come on Moose, don't so sad the Seahawks are driving

Unknown said...
Jan 12, 2008, 5:43:00 PM

neither moose or goose mention the poor coaching decision to go for a punt block there-no reason for it

Anonymous said...
Jan 12, 2008, 5:44:00 PM

Someone please explain to me two things. First, why the hell does Fox continue to give the Goose carte blanche with the microphone?

And second, how can anyone actually watching this game justify saying the comment "Shaun Alexander is really running well today." I'm too lazy to take a screen shot of my computer that shows his 6 carries for 6 yards.

Bstone said...
Jan 12, 2008, 5:46:00 PM

Why cut away from the game to show Siragussa talking?

Anonymous said...
Jan 12, 2008, 5:48:00 PM

Kenny: "How many layers are you wearing, Tony?"
Goose: "Six."

No reports on whether that includes the personal insulation (read: blubber) or not.

Great Johnstone, say how fast the LB's are and show them getting beat in the same play.

The depressing thing about how bad the Fox announcers are is how good Fox is at other things, like popping the graphic to show us where the ball is, since the snow makes it hard to tell. Whoever suggested that deserves a raise.

RandomRanting said...

great play by Harris on pass-yet Moose sticks with producer theme of Hassleback complaining

Anonymous said...
Jan 12, 2008, 6:30:00 PM

I agree that Favre could have thrown 3 picks and fumbled already and the announcers would still be fawning all over him. But - he deserves whatever praise he gets the way is playing today. The "good Favre" has definitely showed up so far.
