Last Day Of The MLB Regular Season!
Sunday, September 28, 2008
Hey, it's NFL Sunday, but we can't ignore baseball today because we have some DRAMA!!!! for you! The Mets are finishing up against the Marlins on TBS today (if the rain lets up), and the Brewers take on the Cubs an hour later for NL Wild Card rights (those of you with WGN on the cable or satellite or the appropriate Fox Sports channel will get to see this). Both teams wins, both teams lose, it means a play-in game.
Hopefully Oliver Perez can be as "gangsta" as Johan Santana was yesterday. LET'S GO METS!
The AL Central's a bit more complicated. Minnesota is a half game up on the White Sox, so if the Twins beat the Royals and the White Sox lose to the Indians, it's done. If both teams win or the Twins lose and the White Sox win, the South Siders host Detroit for a make-up game, which could lead to a tiebreaker game.
Treat this as your baseball open thread.

mets will start at 2 pm, making it that more dramatic for scoreboard watching.
Granderson joins Eck and Cal, right? He was good last year. Eck is great.
correction: Detriot comes to Chicago on monday.
Did anyone notice that when they showed the comparison of Yankee Stadium and Shea Stadium, the Shea picture was in a football configuration?
On Kevin Hart verus Corey Hart.
Bob Brenly: "They've been dying for that Hart to Hart matchup."
20 seconds of dead silence.
Yes! A two-out, two run home run by Ryan Braun off of Bob Howry in the 8th, Brewers lead 3-1. The Mets trail 4-2 in the 8th. The NY'ers second straight year taking the gas pipe is almost complete.
Brewers win, 3-1. Come on, Florida Marlins!
Chip Caray: "Matt Lindstrom is from Rexburg, Idaho, and he's throwing potatoes."
Is the Tigers-White Sox make-up game going to be on WGN America tomorrow? The nation needs to see Ozzie do his best Mets impersonation.
It's on both ESPN2 and WGN
i dont know if any of you saw the red sox/ yankees game but in the 8th inning the sox fans held up signs saying 2000. anyone know why? the only reason i can think of is that the yankees havent won since 2000 but 8 years is nothing compared to 86. any ideas?
saw the game on the marlins feed and judging from their reaction, you would think the marlins got into the playoffs, because this team had one thing on their mind...get the mets out of the playoffs. for the second straight year, the marlin fans ended the season on a great note by ending the mets season.
i just love seeing all of the booing and sad met fans around shea right after the loss though. good luck to the brewers.
Wow the Mets suck again and they want to give Minaya a four year deal they should send him to the unemployment line.
A four-year extension was a bit much, but they shouldn't fire Minaya -- yet.
GMs usually take the fall for crap players after the manager does, but the bullpen failed at such a spectacular rate that it's hard to pin it on anyone but the pitchers themselves.
The Mets blew it again!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA! Go Phillies!
As a Phillies fan, I'd much rather lose to Milwaukee than New York.
BREW CREW IN THE PLAYOFFS. FINALLY!!!!!
just want to say what a great job Brian Andersen & Bill Schroeder did for the post-game reports on FSN WI. Awesome atmosphere here in Milwaukee. Go Crew.
This has nothing to do wuth the playoff picture, but I couldn't watch the Cards last game because my PC took a huge dump, and I'm royally pissed off.
Oh, and fuck the Brewers.
Anyone catch this gem on TBS's pregame show? Ernie Johnson was going over postseason award candidates and said, "Let's move to the Cy Young Award; we'll start again in the American League, and you can beat off - count off the 22-3 Cliff Lee."
