Your Week Five Pammy Nominees
Monday, September 29, 2008
Every Monday you will have anywhere from ten to twenty quotes to pick from and your votes will decide our weekly winner and ultimately the grand champion. I'll have the winners and new standings up tomorrow and be sure to cast your vote at the bottom.
It's going to be a tough decision for you voters this week. Here are the thirteen quotes to choose from in no particular order....
The Pam Ward Chronicles: Week Five
1. "You gotta love the offensive game plan so far here by California" - Charles Davis calling the Minnesota/Ohio State game
2. "He's giving the traveling call"- Jesse Palmer not realizing that the motion is the same for a false start
3. "Tennessee has beaten Tennessee three times this year."- Gary Danielson
4."The college football world is flat. Anybody can beat you."- Spencer Tillman
5. "You gotta go for it here if you're Butch Davis and you came to win"- Andre Ware
"It's only third down"- Dave Pasch
6. "Yeah you've gotta expect Ringer to get it here"- Ray Bentley with Michigan State at the 1 yard line going in to score and an empty backfield
7. "That's going to bring up third and a credit card."- Joe Tessitore
8. "In college football brad, you know, when you make a first down, first downs that you have possession of aren't really that important because if you make a first down it stops the clock" - Bob Griese not making much sense
9. "Four of the last three years." - Kirk Herbstreit in reference to USC losing to unranked opponents
10. "I don't even know if you're allowed to say this. But just like you can't be a little bit pregnant, you also can't be a little bit spread."- Gary Danielson on Auburn's spread offense
11. "They call it a naked bootleg, because you are out there alone, and they are undressing you, and you are left all exposed." - Dave Archer
12. "This is an old-fashioned, country butt-kicking... and Georgia is supplying the butt." - Mike Patrick
13. "It was a missed PTA." - Brent Musburger referring to the end of the Ole Miss/Florida game

agreed, Palmer was totally being sarcastic.
I'm thinking that either Ware or Bentley have to take the "honors" this week. Those guys just keep getting worse.
AA, tell me who you want us to vote for.
Really? I thought Palmer was serious. I'll take that into consideration though.
I want you to vote for who you want to. I have one vote just like all of you and mine went to Danielson, but don't let that sway you.
you missed the best comment of the weekend! Pam Ward, midway through the first quarter of Michigan State/Indiana said the following:
"Runner comes up just a bit shart of the first down"
Yes she said shart instead of short, and yes it was as funny as it seems. Watch the tap.e
Gotta go with Griese. Granted, a first down stops the clock, but uh... can't you down the ball 4 times now? That eats a hell of a lot of clock, Bob.
The Griese comment was hilarious. He made NO SENSE whatsoever. My friend and I both started laughing - we had no idea WTF it meant.
um...gary danielson was serious about tennessee. he was just saying that they beat themselves with mistakes. thats what he meant to say
I'll agree. I remember seeing it, because they showed the bench after the penalty and Sanchez clearly said traveling as he was making the gesture, Palmer just came off sounding a little goofy pointing that out.
Oh, and can't Todd Blackledge get some sort of honorary award for making a Britney joke after a recap of last years game and completely throwing Mike Patrick
Several of these are pretty weak. Aside from the Palmer "traveling" reference, which was obviously a joke...
3. "Tennessee has beaten Tennessee three times this year."- Gary Danielson
As tbtyphoon pointed out, Tennessee has repeatedly killed themselves with mistakes this year (e.g. the UCLA debacle), and Danielson was referencing this, not making a misstatement.
4."The college football world is flat. Anybody can beat you."- Spencer Tillman
A "flat" organization does not have a defined hierarchy, with everyone basically considered to be on an even level. Tillman could have teased out the reference a bit more, but I get what he's saying.
7. "That's going to bring up third and a credit card."- Joe Tessitore
Can't we allow for a little creativity, rather than repeatedly saying, "third down and inches"?
Joe Tessitore was simply awful. Stick him back on the MMA
I agree...
Nike Air Force One
I Don't like Palmer's being on here. I'm pretty sure he was being sarcastic.
