Bob Griese's Homerism Knows No Bounds
Monday, September 15, 2008
The chatter last week was about Erin Andrews and Kirk Herbstreit's allegiances when covering College Football, but I think everyone completely forgot about Bob Griese. The team of Brad Nessler, Griese and Paul Maguire were at Purdue when the stadium decided to get Bob to get his alma mater hyped before the fourth quarter. Here's the video evidence via Brahsome....
Wow. That's just about as over-the-top as it gets. The worst part is that Oregon ended up twelve points to Oregon's six in the fourth and beat the Boilermakers after being down fourteen in the first quarter.

As a Purdue Alum, I can say they have a guest do that every game. Off the top of my head, Neil Armstrong, Drew Brees, Gene Keady, Mark Phipps, and LeRoy Keyes have done it. With a Hall of Famer who graduated from the school on hand, it's a no brainer. I don't think the bias showed in his commentary though.
Purdue sucks.
It was great seeing them lose.
Purdue does, indeed, suck. Go Hoosiers!
From the department of obviousness, the BIG 10 sucks. Screw em all, except for Penn State.
"Nice going, Griese." Well done, Maguire. That actually made me laugh.
I don't have a huge problem with it. Griese wasn't really rooting for Purdue during the game. That's just like Mark Grace singing "take me out to the ballgame" at Wrigley for Cubs fans when he was a Dbacks announcer.
If you want to hear Griese be a homer watch some of those tapes from when his son was playing at Michigan.
Bring back to coke-bottle glasses, Homer!
