I've made the decision to go out into this brave world and watch the first NFL Sunday of the new season in the company of actual people. Groundbreaking, I know. I figured I would leave you a space to leave your thoughts on the game and the announcers though. If anything wacky goes down be sure to email me and hopefully I can grab the video later on tonight.

The year starts off crazy since Shannon Sharpe has picked the Vikings to make the Super Bowl.

So the Bills beating the Seahawks even though Buffalo is a 1 point favorite is an upset Shannon?

Gumbel just called "great coverage" for some KC scrub who was falling down as Jabar Gaffney let one go through his hands.

Twice in the first quarter Brian Billick has forgotten to mute himself. He's said "Yeah, I hear you" and "No, go back, it's the other one" which obviously made no sense to us viewers.

My apologies if someone else has already coined this nickname for Jillian Barbarie... but with her outfit this morning... I'm going to call her "Storm Fronts" from now on...

Bill Simmons might be on suicide watch by the end of the day.

Actual Randy Cross, uh, rant?

"Well in baseball you call it a pitcher [sic] a no hitter with no hits, when a quarterback throws a ball with a defender right there on an out, that's an 'uh-oh', and an 'uh-oh' means do not do that."

I do believe if Toni Boselli calls Matt Hasselbeck Matt HasselBACK one more time I may have to put my foot through the TV.

It's hell being a Ravens fan in "the DC area"... Yay, I get to watch the Jets and Dolphins, even though I'm in the state of Maryland, and everyone else in the state is seeing the game.

"With Tom Brady out, you know there's a chipmunk eating a hole in his stomach."

I'm glad someone else alrady had that Randy Cross no-hitter comment ... he's been unbelievable today. Said Big Ben was "brutally efficient" 2x, "I read Vin Scully was the Dodgers announcer for 50 years, well Dick LeBeau has been involved with football for 50 years," and a touchdown pass was a "marriage between Schaub's arm and Walter's concentration"

Gus Johnson just asked Cross if he liked tennis, Cross said something like mostly the majors, then mentioned Wimbeldon, the opens, US, French, Australian, Italian!!!

Thank you CBS for giving us the entire Steelers-Texans ass kicking instead of switching to the end of Chiefs-Patriots.

Add another announcer who can't add: at one point the Falcons were up 24-14, and JC Pearson said something about a big defensive stand for the Lions, since "they were only one score down."

Anybody else notice that LeBron James was wearing a NEW YORK YANKEES hat at a ANOTHER CLEVELAND sporting event? He was at the Browns game, so expect Skip Knowsless to have a field day tomorrow. Also, LeBron should just announce that he's joining the Jay-Z Nets in 2010 right now.

When are ESPN going to get the message that MNF double-headers were only necessary when there were games that needed to be moved in times of natural disasters? Feel bad for the West Coast fans who have to hear Mike & Mike with old man Ditka for the first time since their show is on the wee hours of the morning on that coast.

Joe Buck is such a jerk. He pretty much said that he doesn't care what Adam Jones says, and he will continue to call him "Adam 'Pacman' Jones."

Equally annoying are the stuck-up fools that won't call #85 "Chad Ocho Cinco." You think if Brett Favre changed his name to "Brett Four" that they would refuse to acknowledge it?

After initially choosing the Giants to win the Super Bowl and then switching his pick to Dallas during the Fox NFL pre-game show today, rookie studio analyst Michael Strahan said "I should attempt to be unobjective." Huh? Perhaps when he is approached about this, maybe he will say that he really said the word "count".

@anon 6:21.. yeah, I know. More conservative stuffed shirts in the NFL that are terrified of having a little fun. HE LEGALLY CHANGED HIS NAME!

During the Eagles-Rams game, the geniuses put up a graphic of the Eagles receicers. The problem: They spelled Jason Avant, "Jason Avante". Idiots.

Also, Daryl Johnston claimed that Chris Long was a 2nd round draft pick.

I wonder how many cheesesteaks Tony Siragusa ate today? My guess: 3.

Joe Buck while plugging a new show on FOX, said Lost was his favorite show. A show on another network is your favorite ?. Cant you at least be a good corporate shill and lie ?

Proof that the NFL is more about marketing: Why wasnt JAgs / Texans or Chargers / Panthers Sun night game ? So we can get 3 hours of a Michaels and Madden Peyton love fest ? Of course, if the flex schedule was in place, the game would have been Jets / Dolphins.

I think this feature needs to be called the Joe Buck Chronicles or
something similar modeled after the Pam Ward Chronicles.

Fox's graphic AND Dick Stockton just referred to Dante Rosario as Rosario Dawson!

(she would look rather good in a football jersey, though...)

The season-opening MNF twin bill? That's so ESPN won't have to air a Monday-night game in Week 17.

Ocho Cinco? League office ruled he has to wear a Johnson 85 jersey.

Michaels & Madden? Bring back Costas & Trumpy.
