Today In Lame Touchdown Celebrations

Wednesday, September 03, 2008

I'm not one to pick on Canada like others do, but this has to be the lamest TD celebration ever thought up. In the heated battle between the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Toronto Argonauts, receiver Arland Bruce decided to bring out a prop following a touchdown in the second quarter of the Monday night game....

A Spiderman mask? At least the Chad Johnson "HOF Jacket" celebration made a bit of sense. This dude just ran a six yard out and then spent 5 minutes trying to dig a mask out of his jock. Lame. The Tiger-Cat fans stepped it up though....
Stubler wanted the CFL to fine the Ticats for another incident, which he said involved a fan throwing a water balloon filled with beer at one of his players. Running back Dominique Dorsey was not injured when the object struck his helmet in the dying minutes of the fourth quarter.

“I don’t mind the crowds, but you can’t throw stuff,” Stubler said on Monday. “It’s become de rigueur around here. I went down and watch a [Toronto FC] game, and people were throwing stuff at the guy in the corner. I’m not a soccer fan, but it seems to me like that’s wrong.”

Lame!

Fail!

But at least you can do it without getting penalized in the CFL.

And yes, Arland Bruce is a relative of Isaac Bruce.

He should've chugged a bottle of maple syrup instead.

Booooooooooooooo!! That would've been cool if he put the mask on, I dunno, 10 minutes earlier.

@ssreporters. He did get penalized. (??)

it would have been better if he took that shocker foam finger and did it to the referee

If Darren Flutie would have pulled out a Bell cell phone after a TD, would he have been in more than one 10-10-220 commercial?

He is officially Arland Bruce III, which is why the analyst on that telecast joked about him being Cinco III. I don't like what he did, but it was rather harmless to the game. That said, I am an Argos fan, even though I live in the United States.

Arland Bruce III used to have the nickname "Spider Man" when he played in Winnipeg. And yes, he was fined $25,000 CDN for his touchdown celebration. The CFL is also a No Fun League
