ESPN's College Football Announcing Schedule Week One

Wednesday, August 13, 2008

I finally got a hold of ESPN's Week One Announcing Schedule for you and it's full of familiar faces and a few interesting surprises. A lot of the teams are the same from last year, including Ward-Bentley, Pasch-Ware, Franklin-Cunningham and Patrick-Blackledge. There are some significant changes though, and here's what I noticed....

- Everyone welcome Shaun King and ex-Washington Husky, Brock Huard to the mix!
- Huard is with Bob Wischusen Week One. It'll be interesting to see if Bob will be back on ABC games, or stick with ESPN2 contests.
- Jesse Palmer is with Fowler and James for Week One. Not sure if Doug Flutie was dropped yet or not.
- Good old Pam is back on the early Big Ten contest. Let's hope there aren't any technical difficulties this year.

If I missed anything let me know. Here's your schedule minus the ABC games, which will be filled in shortly....

I thought Jesse Palmer was more than capable and quite good on NFL games on Fox a couple of seasons ago, great addition for the Thursday night games.

Brad Nessler for Alabama vs. Clemson in Atlanta (his hometown), n'est pas?

We don't have the 4 ABC crews listed but based on last year:

1. Nessler-Magurie-Griese
2. Musburger-Herbstreit
3. Franklin-Cunningham
4. Gannon-Norrie

Unfortunately for Brad with Gameday in Atlanta, and it being a night game, it will probably go to Brent and he will have to travel to one of the 3:30pm games.

>>>Good old Pam is back on the early Big Ten contest.<<<

ugh.

i still think one reason teh big ten developed its own network was an attempt to prevent pam ward from ruining the broadcast of its games.

Aside from maybe Wayne Larrivee, I don't think the BTN announcers are great shakes themselves (Tom Hamilton on basketball?). I can't wait until Friday when Comcast grants its customers the one year of the BTN before it gets moved to a sports tier.

Just guessing, but I think it will probably be
Utah @ Michigan - Gannon/Norrie
USC @ Virginia - Nessler/Griese/Walrus
Michigan St @ Cal - Patrick/Blackledge or Franklin/Cunningham
Alabama v Clemson - Turdburger/Herbstreit

ABC got rid of Dan Fouts, didn't they? If not, he will probably do the MSU/Cal game.
