Monday Night Football Week One Live-Blog: Eagles-Cowboys First Half
Monday, September 15, 2008
After a week of hype, McNabb-Owens V is finally upon us! Yeah, you're right....it just doesn't sound that exciting does it? I mean the two of them broke up over three years ago and the media is just trying to find things to keep the angle going at this point. Anyway, it should still be a fun game and with Jessica Simpson in attendance, anything can happen!
We'll get things going tonight around 8 something....see you then.

"You know what? These two teams have to play the best Football that they can tonight and one must come away with the win."- Emmitt Smith
Good to know.
"But as I said, Cowboys-Chargers was OFF THE CHARTS!" - Stuart Scott (Via SS)
Which teams, Stu?
"He was playing with House's money."- Chris Berman
Berman either has a really bad stuttering problem tonight or he's promoting shows on FOX now.
"Roger Staubach threw four touchdown passes on Monday night here against the Baltimore Orioles."- Stuart Scott
Wow. He's just not doing well with the team names tonight. Pretty sure you wanted the Colts with that one Stu.
"Other than maybe the Liberty Bell, no split in Philadelphia has drawn as much attention as Owens and the Eagles."- Chris Berman
Ugh.
"Everyone compares Romo to Brett Favre."- Steve Young
Please don't tell Kornheiser that.
"It's going to bother him more than it's going to hurt him. Then it's going to hurt him."- Emmitt Smith on the protection Barber is wearing to cover up his hurt ribcage.
___________________________
Wow that girl went way overboard with that one and she got booed!!! Wow. Well that's not a good way to start this thing, but here we are. Emmitt tries to explain that the Cowboys need to stop the losing tonight (what losing?) and whatever....my head hurts. The kickoff is coming up soon....
"Sears at Home"? Is that a new feature?
"We're not in Green Bay tonight, so it can't be Favre tonight....Who's your boy tonight Tony?"- Mike Tirico
Jerry Jones? Really??? Whatever. I guess he has less story angles, so that's fine by me. Oh and one more thing....CAN WE START THE G'DAMN GAME ALREADY!?!?! I don't care about Hank's Spanish rendition of "Rowdy Friends".
"Don't take a siesta, Eagles and Boys in a fiesta."- Hank Williams Jr.
Kill me. Although I do enjoy the helmets colliding like that. That's always a winner.
8:41- Eagles ball to start and Nick Folk (Implosion) proceeds to kick it out of bounds. Whoooo! Incomplete to LJ Smith on first down but Westbrook runs for about 14 into 'Boys territory. 1st down.
Those a-holes still don't have the down and distance on the screen! Hahaha. They just made the little marker on the field gigantic!!! People just never cease to amaze me.
Huge hit by Thomas on Westbrook and it's third and long. McNabb spins out and hits his backup TE for a big gain. Whoa! Crazy play....Jackson catches it for a first down but fumbles, a Cowboy picks it up and then he fumbles and the Eagles get it in the endzone.
Nevermind....incomplete. Typed all of that for nothing.....Field Goal try for the Eagles....
Good. 3-0 Philly.
Did he just introduce him as Adam "not Pacman" Jones? Way to fade out the nickname... (Via JFein)
I don't think blogs will let that happen.
8:51- Cowboys first possession and they'll get the ball at the 26 after a holding penalty on the run by Felix Jones.
"More room to operate for T.O. and Romo.....down three-o."- Mike Tirico
So bad. I hate when Tirico tries to be funny.
Ok time to blitz the hell out of Romo so he throws a pick. (Via Lammy742)
Marion Barber for one yard and then Mickell knocks away a pass to Witten. Third down already. No matter....first down on a high pass that Owens climbs the ladder for...first down. Barber loses yards on first down. Romo with a "Brett Favre" like flip on second but Barber goes nowhere. 3rd and long....
Romo to Owens.....GONE! And T.O. even throws in a lunge at the line. 72 yards and that was just beautiful.....7-3 Cowboys.
9:00- Eagles on the move right back at the Cowboys after a few plays to Westbrook and Buckhalter. Westbrook's movement to WR just completely threw the Dallas D for a loop there. 2nd and 2 here and a draw to Westbrook gets the first.
After three straight misses the Eagles are going to have to kick again....
Good. 7-6 Cowboys with 3 minutes left in the first quarter.
"T.O. does it, now McNabb comes out, remember him?" - Tony Kornheiser (Via JFein)
Tony doesn't watch Sports, so Tony wouldn't know who he is.
Bumper music: Countrified version of "When You Wish Upon A Star." Somewhere, Jiminy Cricket is hitting the bottle hard. (Via Jim Williams)
Hahaha. Good catch.
McNabb hasn't thrown up yet. They'll get in the end zone soon. (Via Anon)
Another note on the graphic, is there really any purpose of the ESPN MNF logo being on the bottom? (Via SS)
Good question. The really could get rid of at least half of that. Wait a minute......
Felix Jones takes the kickoff back 98 yards for the Touchdown! Boy that kid is fast.....14-6 Cowboys and the place is going nuts
9:15- Tony and Jaws are fighting over something....
"Punch, counter punch. Right now the Dallas Cowboys are leaning with that hard left and connecting."- Ron Jaworski
"They're hitting knockouts. That's not counter punch. This is big uppercuts knocking somebody down."- Tony Kornheiser
Short gain on first for the Eagles followed by a facemask....no....not called....
"Unless he's the Exorcist's child, he grabbed him."- Tony Kornheiser
Ummm....what?
3rd and 5....McNabb going deep and he's got a man...NO! Mike Jenkins comes flying in and knocks it away. Amazing play and the Eagles have to punt.
And TK becomes the 1 millionth football analyst to tell us the Eagles will be good if McNabb stays healthy. (Via Lammy742)
Romo back to pass.....PICKED OFF! Asanti Samuel grabs and runs around for a bit before being facemasked down. Another no call though. Terrible throw by Romo. Eagles ball at the Dallas 28.
Rex Grossman approves of that throw. (Via PM)
McNabb deep! Flag at the goal line. PI on Henry and the ball will go all the way down to the goal line at the other end because the quarter is over.
14-6 Cowboys after one.
1st down and Goal and the Eagles throw the WR screen to Westbrook....
Touchdown. That was too easy. Just line him up at WR every play. 14-13 'Boys but we've got a good one on our hands.
"Mike Shanahan no where around to go for 2" - Mike Tirico (Via JFein)
9:27- If I were the Eagles, I'd just kick this one out of bounds. Whoa....Isiah Stanback fumbles the kickoff and Dallas will work for
"I took high school Spanish, either he said he's not going to be caught, or please pick up my dry cleaning tomorrow." - Tony Kornheiser (Via SS)
"Tony Curtis? He's been around for awhile."- Tony Kornheiser
Shut up.
HOLY CRAP! Romo has the ball slip through his hands (surprise!) and then fumbles on the way out of the endzone. The Eagles pick it up and that's an Eagles TD!!!
20-14 Eagles and Dallas fans have to be cursing Romo after that one. The blitzes are working like a charm for Philly.
9:32- Wow! Felix Jones almost breaks another kickoff. He's tackled at the Dallas 43. 1st and 10 and Barber goes nowhere and an incomplete pass to Owens on second down. 3rd and long but Romo finds Witten for a first down.
End around to Felix Jones and he gets tackled by his shoestrings or he would still be running. He still gets six. Romo then goes to the slacker Martellus Bennett and he takes it all the way down to the 15.
Barber for very little on first down but follows it up with a big gainer down to the four. 1st and Goal.....
Romo to Owens....Touchdown! This game is just wild. Dallas goes back on top 21-20.
9:44- Eagles ball from their own 28 with 10 minutes left.....and McNabb is sacked on first down by Ratliff. No chance on that one.
"Let's go back to T.O. and Romo for a second...."- Tony Kornheiser
Please no. Westbrook gets a fefw on second down and Jason Avant is crushed by Watkins! Oh wow he caught that?! Amazing. 1st down....McNabb deep!!!!!
DeSean Jackson with the catch! 61 yards!!! Wait...he seriously might have thrown the ball back before crossing the goal line! Oh my god.....challenge by Dallas....
No touchdown! Unbelievable. It's still the Eagles ball at the one, ala the Denver fumble yesterday, but that's just crazy. Doesn't matter though....
Westbrook over the top for a TD! 27-21 Eagles. Insane.
Great call by Tirico to question the crossing of the goal line before anyone else picked up on it. This would be one of the dumbest plays in NFL history if it gets overturned. (Via Captain Redbeard)
Yes it was. He noticed it as it was happening which takes some great eyes. As long as he's not trying to make jokes, he's one of the best.
"That's dicey where that guy's hands were."- Tony Kornheiser on Westbrook getting a massage on the sidelines
9:55- Romo to Owens deep again! Flag....holding brings it back. Man, there's still 7 minutes left in the half. 3rd and long....incomplete. Cowboys to punt to our goat, DeSean Jackson! Who wants to be on a fair catch? Nope....gets it back to the Philly 40. Whew...commercial break. Everyone take a breath. Wait....no commerical. McNabb throws for a first down into Cowboys territory.
"They're number one receiver is playing for the Cowboys tonight."- Tony Kornheiser
"Oh come on!"- Jaws and Tirico simultaneously
"That was three years ago."- Mike Tirico
Get him Mikey! 3rd and 7 for the Eagles....McNabb has about 40 minutes to throw the ball and finds Jackson at the Dallas 25. Great patience there. Timeout.
McNabb and the Eagles get bailed out with a Dallas penalty and they're going four wide here on first down. Draw to Westbrook that's not going anywhere. 2 minute warning....
Donovan McNabb someone escapes a sack and scrambles for a first down. It wasn't pretty like the DMc of old but it got the job done. There's a review for some reason from the booth some reason but that should stand. It does and Westbrook carries it down to the five. McNabb to Lorenzo Booker on second, but he only gets a yard before going out of bounds. 3rd and Goal....McNabb scrambles, hit, hit again, hit again!, and finally down. Eagles will have to kick it....
Good. 30-21 Eagles with :45 left in the half.
NBC just committed suicide by signing up for the Cleveland hype, this should've been the Sunday night game. One of the rare nights that the MNF game is better than the SNF game. (Via SS)
Good call, but NBC's still got the Cowboys three times this season. Cowboys trying to hurry up, but they're wasting time. Romo to Witten right up the middle of the field!!!! How did he get that open? Gain of 42 and into FG range for Nick Folk. Terrible D by Philly on that play....51 Yarder....
Good! 30-24 Eagles. Still :03 left but that should do it for this crazy half. I'll see you in a new thread at the start of the second but be sure to enjoy the National Anthem in the time being.

Wow a TO montage that included "I love me some me" and "get your popcorn" way to give us something new ESPN.
Where did it go wrong for ESPN? I blame the mouse.
Is it too late for the Iggles or 'Skins to take Billy McMullen away from Seattle so he can stop fumbling and dropping passes?
AA, you have any thoughts on Chris Cooley today?
I'm just waiting for the inevitable
comment from Kornheiser about "from cheeseheads to cheesesteaks".
Obviously the fans are booing because the jumbotron accidentally showed our commentators of the night.
What about him? His unit being put on the internet?
Oh man, Tony Kornheiser is in a pink tie. Nice Tony, real nice.
So, anybody have the over under of what time Kornheiser mentions Farve tonight?
@ AA, yeah. I thought it was hilarious. Maybe he was giving a hint of what Carlos Rogers sucks?
Kornheiser has a comeover Homer Simpson would be proud of. Seriously Tony, you have five strans of hair. Just cut it off and be bald.
@lammy742, only a few. Wanna know why? Because next week's game is Jets/Chargers.
Emmitt is going all over the place.
Yeah, I didn't think it was that bad, but obviously the Cooley Camp thought it was a bigger deal than everyone else.
Seriously, I haven't watched Countdown in a year and this is an abomination.
So Chris Cooley whipped it out? I'm confused about his unit on the blog. Aparently they already took it down.
Yeah, he took a photo of this Tight Ends test for his website and he was naked while doing so and had a notebook in his lap. You could see little Chris at the bottom of the photo.
Apparently he studies nude, he took it down, apologized, and this story should go away after a few days.
Was that Michelle Tafoya reporting or did espn slap some makeup on a shaved badger?
"Jackson give Donovan Mcuhh" - Keyshawn Johnson
Well Cooley may have gotten rid of the post, but Playing the Field didn't. NSFW, it's on the bottom left.

Man this is not a good national anthem with this Kat lady.
They couldn't get Jessica Simpson to sing the anthem? Why are they televising the anthem anyways? It seems kinda odd for a regular season game.
That was a terrible anthem, listen to the boos.....that is a singing sensation?
Emmitt naturally picking the cowboys.
I did notice the booings. Maybe they tought it was Ashlee Simpson.
Wow...I'm amazed how bad that anthem was. I wasn't paying close attention at first, but then I started to realize how terrible it sounded. It was incredibly bad - it takes a lot to get booed for singing the national anthem.
AA you gotta get video of the anthem. Holy hell was that bad!
Seriously Zach...I was spacing out too and then the dreadfulness caught my ear.
Why couldn't they get somebody else?
She muffed the words, too many high pitched notes that failed, why not just sing it in Spanish if it's easier?
Sounded like a deaf person singing
It's coming Anon...trust me.
Was Charro not available for Hispanic Heritage day? That girl was awful.
Jessica singing it? good gosh, let's hope not.
Oh my they brought up Favre.
Why can't I get the Westwood One feed through the internet? I rather listen to Marv than that clown in the booth, Tony Kornheiser.
HD brought to you by Sears Toughskins.
Speaking of which anon, Marv is working with Michael Irvin tonight.
Hank Williams Jr celebrating hispanic day? Will he be singing it in Spanish?
On second thought, I don't want to listen to Irving either. Damnit.
Hispanic Appreciation Heritage Month?
Um, why in the hell is this being celebrated during a fucking football game?
On second thought, I don't want to listen to Irving either. Damnit.
Hank Williams was en fuego tonight.
They brought back the clashing helmets!
How hard is it to find a Latina singer in Texas?
Very hard, apparently.
Why do they insist on shoving this "Hispanic heritage" garbage down the throats of football fans?
Korny seems to be of the opinion that he should talk constantly tonight.
I hope during one of these intros one of the players says "Thanks Mike, fuck you Tony."
Did he just introduce him as Adam "not Pacman" Jones? Way to fade out the nickname...
I'm glad Jaws and McNabb are on a first name basis.
Must be a Philly thing, or a dumb Polack thing.
DeSean Jackson channels his inner Seattle Seahawk.
If they really wanted to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, they would replace these three and have the Spanish announcers calling the game on the English ESPN.....speaking Spanish.
ESPN, the first Post-Modern multicultural sports network.
Thanks for celebrating Mexican Independence Day.
Assholes.
Huh huhhuhhuhhuhhuhhhuhhuhhhh
Ok time to blitz the hell out of Romo so he throws a pick.
I don't worry SS....I think that gimmick is coming later in the game.
"More field to work with for Romo and T.O., down 3-0" - Mike "the poet" Tirico
"More field to work with for Romo and T.O., down 3-0" - Mike "the poet" Tirico
Tony Romo threw that pass like Brett Favre.........is what Kornholio is thinking.
Wow Jaws just set up Tony to comment about Farve/Rodgers and he didn't take the bait. Maybe they installed the electric current to Tony's chair.
Who the hell told Tony to give his fucking opinion on every little thing tonight?
Go back to sleep Tone.
@ AA, I mean the rest of the game. ;-)
They may want to cover T.O next time.
I bet Donovan is so jealous of Terrell right now....
I get the feeling Jaws dislikes Tony.
LOL
TO is such an ass. An incredibly talented, wonderfully gifted, but wholly insufferable ass.
@pm, stop stating the obvious, you're sounding like an analyst already.
She should've changed her sign from "Got TO?" to "Got VD?"
"T.O. does it, now McNabb comes out, remember him?" - Tony Kornheiser
No, Tony, I don't remember who he is.
Bumper music: Countrified version of "When You Wish Upon A Star"
Somewhere, Jiminy Cricket is hitting the bottle hard.
Wow, only 1/2 quarter in and I'm sick of them talking about TO/McNabb. That's a record.
I'm going to take Tony's job, SSR. Just like Brett Favre took Chad Pennington's job.
It looks like instead of Tony incessantly talking about Brett Favre, we get the 3-year old McNabb vs. T.O. story shoved down our throats.
Jaws stutters his way through that last sentence.
The choice:
Kornheiser's wino-esque facial hair
or
Costas' hairpiece
@ pm, Brett Favre didn't flip burgers, so he really didn't take Pennington's job.
*Channeling Kenny Mayne*: I wonder if Brian Westbrook has sent in an audition for that Hole in The Wall show...he'd be great...or something.
Another note on the graphic, is there really any purpose of the ESPN MNF logo being on the bottom?
McNabb hasn't thrown up yet. They'll get in the end zone soon.
Is this Jason Campbell? It's 3rd and 9, Mcnabb!
Dallas 7 - Akers 6
And TK becomes the 1 millionth football analyst to tell us the Eagles will be good if McNabb stays healthy.
Jaws is racist.
Crap, Iggles have no answer for this man.
ESPN is such a caring sports network.
Kornheiser is starting to sound more and more like a political hack with his 3 talking points, no matter what is going on:
- Dallas has stars
- McNabb has injuries
- Someone will blowup someone else
Rinse, repeat, annoy
Glad to know NFL refs have continued to suck this week.
Sean Considine is probably the worst safety in the NFL........oh wait, that's Brian Russell of the Seahawks.
Felix Jones > Darren McFadden....unless McFadden gets to play the Chiefs every week.
And Favre throws a poor interception!
YEAH! See, ya biltz Romo and he gets the happy feet.
Are the Cowboys exempt from face mask penalties?
And the one they do get is a bad call?
Rex Grossman approves of that throw.
I'm calling it right now, the Jets/Chargers broadcast next week will be the WORST Monday Night Football telecast in history.
Ed Hochuli approves of the uncalled facemasks.
Wow, Andy Reid using Westbrook a lot? Did he just recognize this man's talent this year?
Anyone else notice they got rid of the PTI halftime mini-show this year?
"Mike Shanahan no where around to go for 2" - Mike Tirico
Please Mike, leave the stupid comments to Tony.
Why was Michael Clarke Duncan talking about balls?
Tony, you have Cowboys and Eagles, why in the HELL would you ever think about going into one of your little discussions about the fuckin Broncos game?
Cowboys are still mystified by an RB lining up out wide. They don't grow 'em too bright down in Texas.
Oh my Isaiah Stanback just demonstrated how Washington Huskies football works under Tyrone Willingham.
We needed to hear Jones' kickoff return in Spanish?
When ESPN promotes something, they go all out.
Oh Romo...
Romo is garbage just fumbled in his own endzone, how about we hate on him too.
hey i also started a site and hope that you can give me some feedback if you have some time.
http://cheehee.com/users/new
thanks!
Romo should've given up the safety, instead it's a touchdown.
"I took high school Spanish, either he said he's not going to be caught, or please pick up my dry cleaning tomorrow." - Tony K.
That was a terrible joke.
Oh for Christ sakes.
And Tony with the Borscht Belt schtick.
ESPN, home of Hispanic Heritage Month.
Next week, Brett Farve Heritage Month.
That...was....hilarious...
So is the Simpson/Romo affair off after Romo singlehandedly gave the Eagles 14 points?
Quick, somebody get some giant water balloons for Romo to stick his face between! Thats his happy place when Jessica Simpson isn't around.
This is why Romo doesn't hold for field goals anymore.
"Why is it so hard to hold onto the ball?" - Tony Kornheiser
"What we're watching here is the Hagler/Hearns fight." - Kornheiser
Stop it.
Anything's exciting to these 3 after watching last weeks snooze fest.
FYI- I'm putting the National Anthem vid up between the 1st and 2nd half threads if you want to relive it.
"It's like everyone is playing with their hair on fire" - Tony Kornheiser.
What analysis...
Why does everything in sports need to be compared to something that happened previously. Can't it just be it's own thing?
Even Peter King is guilty.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/peter_king/09/15/Week2/3.html
How many times are you going to mention the Chargers/Broncos tonight, Tirico?
TK- (about Marion Barber) He explodes into people.
Um...ewww
They should let Owens loose on his own, because the Eagles aren't interested in covering him.
Who kidnapped Romo and put Rex Grossman in his uniform?
I think we're going to hit the over/under of 46.5. Heck, at this rate, we'll hit 100 tonight.
I missed the national anthem, but from what people are saying, it's worth the watch.
It was shithideous. I hate when people try to do their version of the anthem. Just sing the damn song.
TK about TO- "I guess I didn't realize he was that good because he's so controversial."
Really Tony? You couldn't separate those two things?
You know, Philly, it's customary to cover the other teams best WR, often with one or two players. Seriously. Look it up.
This is the game of the season. This cannot be beat.....I thought SD/Denver was the best game, but this has it beat.
Awesome job ESPN. Go to commercial without giving us a decent angle.
Are you joking? DeSean Jackson is so stupid.
How does that happen?
That is a soul-crushingly stupid play by Jackson.
SO interesting, Tony, everything is interesting to Tony, controversy, thoughtfulness and interestingness.
Tony deserves an Emmy for his work, his soliloquys on the condition of man.
Great call by Tirico to question the crossing of the goal line before anyone else picked up on it. This would be one of the dumbest plays in NFL history if it gets overturned.
And Westbrook saves Jackson.
Fantasy implications anyone?
I was just thinking about how this makes up for last years kneel down for fantasy people that have Westbrook both years.
Nice one by Tirico.
Jaws must have been so relieved that his TD record wasn't broken......yet.
Made up for Westbrook laying down on the one last year.
Dallas? Paradise City? Doubt it
Delete anon's comment......way TMI.
@ SSR
Jaws is probably just relieved his incontinence hasn't flared up again.
"44-yard penalty erased" - Mike Tirico.
No, the penalty erased the 44-yard reception.
fuck my only hope of a comeback is romo to t.o for 4 tds...my comeback in Fantasy Football
The astonishing level of astonishment in this game is simply astonishing.....
Actually myself Anon. I have T.O. going against McNabb. Good times.
Jerry eating popcorn. What's the cowboy's fasination with popcorn?
BTW, SSR, what's the buzz among the Red Devil faithfull re; Berba's disappearing act once he set up Tevez' goal?
Spurs really shit the bed today agaisnt Villa.
What a game. What a game. What a game. Ruined by Kornheiser.
Please delete anon's comment, no one else needs to know that. It's probably the same one who called Jaws a racist.
Wait a minute...oh my god...we have a punt. I won't be surprised if Tony reminds us what a punt is...
Spurs are relegation bound. Rooney is being wasted. Wake up SaF
@ pm, Berba disappeared as you said, but it's just 1 game. But if they can't beat Chelski or at least draw then the panic button should be pushed. I hope Ronaldo is back by then because there is no creativity whatsoever.
Sp*rs are bad, and Martin Tyler sounded so bored today.
"They're #1 receiver is playing for the Cowboys this season". - Tony Kornheiser
Please find a new job.
I fucking hate this insane rambling that is going on
What's this, the billionth time now you've mentioned McNabb is healthy? Shut up Kornheiser.
Even a Yiddo such as I can admit that Spurs are in a world of shit. Pavlyohwhatsit looked good today, though, despite getting shit service all day. Ramos started Zokora/Lennon over Bentley/Jenas today. That man just may find himself sacked.
Korny really likes to talk about the off field stuff. Isn't that what sports radio is for. Stick to the game on the field!
Mark, Rooney isn't being wasted......Nani is a waste. Stop showboating like Ronaldo did at 20, stop shooting constantly from 35, and pass the ball properly.
Liverpool Scousers act like they got a treble when really they have looked unimpressive in every match they have played, including this one against United, which was more of United's defensive undoings.
if you press the wheelchair next to the letters it's actually a little like listening to kornheiser...
McNabb had all day for that last throw.
Not sure about relegation, mark. They may yet pull it together. Spurs started 2005 1-1-4 and managed 5th, so there's yet hope for the Lillywhites.
Kornheiser is the worst. What a hack.
Gus Poyet should be manager, not Juande.
Look on the bright side, even with that win, West Brom look like crap.
Enough soccer talk, one of the greatest MNF games in history and we're talking about how doomed Spurs are?
Now when the Chargers play the Bretts, then we talk about how exactly Tottenham will lose 6-0 to Arsenal.
Does Kornheiser get paid by the word? He blows.
Dallas is getting zero pressure on McNabb. None.
Eh, not a Manc or a Scouser, just think Rooney should bag more. Perhaps I bought the hype? Idk, just feel like he has the skills and talent to light it up, but seems like he has to track back too much. Full disclosure, I don't watch ManU, so I have no fucking idea what I'm talking about ;)
As I said, a fantastic game, bonehead plays on both sides, but Tony Kornheiser ruined it for me. If this is replayed for generations to come, I hope they just use the radio commentary on Westwood One. He knows nothing about the actual game and is there on his journalistic merits (supposedly).
They tried to make it Howard Cosell but instead it's Dennis Miller II. I have had enough of Kornheiser, it's been shown that Tirico and Jaws work well together as a duo, let them do it and not Kornheiser.
Agreed on Poyet, SSR, and that's my final soccer comment.
Dallas defense looks kind of lost.
Old school McNabb there.
Why in god's name are they reviewing this run?
"Boomer and TJ. They've been together for 22 years you know?"
Way to go Mike. Stickin it!
NBC just committed suicide by signing up for the Cleveland hype, this should've been the Sunday night game. One of the rare nights that the MNF game is better than the SNF game.
@ SSR
Kornheiser is the uncultured, loutish version of Dennis Miller. It's an experiment that needs to end.
This is the worst ever game from Kornheiser........it's 30-21, enjoy the game and STFU.
Am I the only one who forgot that McNabb could actually move like that?
No TK, your announcing tonight has been a horrifying tragedy, not Andy Reid's kids.
Dallas D really tightened up on the goal line. I'm itching for the second half. This is going to be good.
This is stunning.......and I guarantee that in the 2nd half the final score will be like 40-31.
Ron Jaworski- I need Oxygen
I knew he was old but not THAT old
As an Eagles fan I'm extremely nervous. The end of this game could be tight...
"Was it an interception?" - Chris Berman, on the Cutler fumble.
That's one thing that it definitley wasn't.
Wow! What a Monday night football game! Sick game! Points are flying back and forth! Boy did DeSean Jackson lay an egg on the one yard line! I can't wait to go up for the game in Philadelphia! Got my tickets off that face value site eSellOut...This game goes to show you that while the Giants may have won last years Super Bowl...The Eagles and Cowboys are the class of the NFC East in 2008!
-Marty
Great game.
What did Tony apologize for? He mentioned it when they just came back from commercial and talked about Mex Indp day.
Tony apologized for his poor commentator skills. Remember. It's who you know in the business!
Does Kornheiser ever shut up? How can anyone enjoy a game with his constant prattling?
So glad to see a site on bad announcing. So when does ESPN dump this totally pathetic team--geez it is painful to listen them
The MNF announcers are the worst ... the incessant babbling and bloviating over the action is awful. Can we get Michaels and Madden do an Internet voice feed to listen to while we watch the video on TV?. I only watch MNF if it's significant match-up, then I turn down the sound.
Two more Kornhole comments:
1. Referencing Dallas' roster built to go to the Super Bowl as "Manifest Destiny." I guess he doesn't know American History either.
2. Last play of the game. Turico comments on Philly's failed hook and lateral. Kornhole states "there weren't enough rung on their ladder..." WTF?? I wish I could've seen Jaws and Turico looking at him with the "..you're an idiot.." look. Hey Korny, it's a "hook and lateral" not "hook and ladder". I wonder if he's ever touched a football?
ESPN's MNF crew are the worst announcers on the planet
Do everybody a favor and dump the screw crew. Get back your Sunday night crew.
why does every espn commentator compare every qb in the league to brett favre when they do something well. i'm waiting for vince young to scramble for a 70 yard td run and kornheiser saying that looks favre-esque. anyone remember favre has thrown the most ints ever? so when matt ryan throws his next int please tell me jaws will compare it to favre. what is the media's obsession with favre? let it go
ESPN: PLEASE REPLACE TONY KORNHEISER!!!!!! He is the most annoying commentator in the history of Monday night football.EVER!!!! Even if you brought Howard Cosell back from dead, it would be better than this guy.
Fed up with Monday night football, ALREADY!!!
Fred in Florida

ESPN does care what the veiwers think, they have focus groups. We are stuck, I will continue to boycott, they won't miss one viewer.
Has anyone else noticed that Ron Jaworski now talks just like Suzy Colber? It's the same cute emphasis on words in the middle of sentences - cute on Suzy, just plan annoying on Jaws. He was better when he was a real analyst not a ratings hound.
Kornhoser is sucking all the oxygen in the booth.
How bout a death match with Kornhoser & Oberwomen from NBC
I love me some me! God I hate T.O.
